NBA Betting Picks: Wednesday’s Best NBA Player Prop Bets | Tonight 5/5

The month of May is already five days old, which means the NBA play-in tournament games are just 13 days away. As the season hits the stretch run, the act of monitoring team injury reports figures to become all the more critical for ensuring successful NBA player props ventures. There is a solid nine-game slate on this fine Wednesday evening. Our featured NBA prediction and betting picks to consider tonight include props for Cole Anthony, Derrick Rose and Jakob Poeltl.

Yesterday’s NBA Player Props Recap

It was another solid slate for us on Tuesday, as we connected on two of our three featured NBA player props. Jalen McDaniels cruised over 5.5 rebounds on his way to a double-double performance. DeAndre Jordan failed to see 20 minutes of action like we feared and never threatened to exceed 6.5 points. Delon Wright did manage to prove us wrong, squeaking over the NBA betting line of 7.5 assists. All we can do is tip our caps to him and look forward to hitting some more plays tonight.

NBA Betting Prediction: NBA Player Props | May 5

Cole Anthony Under 5.5 Rebounds

Steve Clifford’s rotation on Monday was a clear indication that the Magic are in full-on tank mode. Anthony only saw 21 minutes in that game, posting a line of 8 points, four rebounds and four assists. If anything, Monday’s minutes distribution should only raise eyebrows further as to whether Orlando’s better players will play anywhere near their typical allotment tonight. In addition, Anthony’s season numbers also suggest that the NBA betting line of 5.5 total rebounds is just a touch too high.

On the season, Anthony is averaging 4.6 rebounds per game, nearly one full board fewer than tonight’s over/under. Looking at a sample size of the most recent 10 games, Anthony’s rebounding production has been very consistent. However, consistency is not necessarily equivalent to exceeding expectations. Anthony has only exceeded 5.5 boards four times in the last 10 games while splitting the stretch exactly evenly when it comes to his season average. Five times he has gone over 4.6 boards and five times he has gone under. There just isn’t a good reason to bet on him drastically overperforming his average tonight, especially when considering the rotation hijinks from the previous game and that Orlando’s opponent, the Celtics, rank 11th in team rebounding on the season.

Derrick Rose Under 16.5 Points

The Awesemo NBA Betting Player Props Tool is locked and loaded on playing under 16.5 points for Rose tonight. There is nothing that should prevent bettors from doubting the tool’s prediction here. Sure, Rose has exceeded this particular prop line in seven of the Knicks’ last eight games. Although it’s always nice to see Rose turn back the clock, the current backcourt situation in New York wouldn’t suggest that such performances will continue to occur with regularity.

NBA betting picks Derrick Rose NBA prediction

While Alec Burks remains listed as out on the injury report ahead of tonight’s game, the rest of the Knicks backcourt is healthy and available. Immanuel Quickley and Reggie Bullock both are more than deserving of minutes, so one of the key factors impacting Rose will be how much playing time Elfrid Payton receives. Lately Tom Thibodeau has been keeping Payton pretty restricted. He has only seen 20 minutes twice in the last eight games, a mark that coincides with Rose’s recent scoring outburst. Will the same continue tonight in a road matchup against the red-hot Nuggets, owners of the eighth-best scoring defense in the NBA? With no significant injuries changing Rose’s outlook, playing under on an NBA betting line that exceeds his season scoring average by over 2 points is ideal.

Jakob Poeltl Over 1.5 Assists

Jakob Poeltl

Although he only averages slightly more than tonight’s prop line of 1.5 assists, recent form would suggest that backing Poeltl to go over the number is a wise bet to include among NBA betting picks. This marks the second consecutive meeting for Poeltl and the Spurs against the Jazz. After missing the team’s game prior to Monday’s matchup, Poeltl returned to play just 20 minutes. In that time, he still managed to hand out four assists.

Monday’s passing display was simply the latest in an impressive run of late. Poeltl has now dished out two or more assists in five of the last six games he has played. There is a pretty good chance he will see a little more playing time tonight than he did Monday as well. This is a must-win game for the Spurs as they look to nail down a spot in the play-in tournament down the stretch. While scoring on Rudy Gobert may not be easy, Poeltl should be able to set up his teammates especially considering some of the injuries Utah is dealing with in their backcourt.
