NBA Betting Prediction: NBA Player Props | April 5
Gary Trent Jr. Over 19.5 Points
Known for his streakiness as a shooter, Trent has been trending upward since coming over to the Raptors at the NBA trade deadline. After a pair of rough games to begin his tenure as a Raptor, Trent seems to have found his shooting stroke. The last three games have seen him post totals of 15, 31, and 24 points. Perhaps even more noteworthy are his logged minutes. With Norman Powell being sent to the Trail Blazers in the same deal, Toronto has had minutes to spare. Trent has hit or exceeded the 30-minute threshold in four of his five games as a Raptor.
By now NBA betting handicappers know all too well that just when Trent is riding high, it all can come crashing down in a hurry. What may keep this fall from coming tonight is the current state of the Raptors’ injury report. Fred VanVleet is listed as day-to-day. His status for Monday’s tilt is very much in doubt. Kyle Lowry will also miss tonight’s game due to a foot injury. Finally, Rodney Hood, who came over from Portland along with Trent, has been ruled out with a hip injury.Â

The Raptors are going to have plenty of backcourt minutes available tonight. Trent should play 35-plus and take anywhere from 10 to 16 shots. Add in a Wizards defense that gives up an NBA-high 119.1 points per game, and Trent figures to have plenty of good looks. Unless he is ice cold shooting the rock, the over on 19.5 points has a good shot to cash.
Derrick White Under 3.5 Rebounds
It took a while for White to get on the court and play on a consistent basis this season. After scoring 16 points or more in each of the Spurs’ last five games, it seems safe to say that White is officially back. While his scoring production has been steady, the Awesemo NBA Player Props Tool is eyeing the under on White’s total rebounds in tonight’s game against the Cavaliers. Is it smart to jump on board?
Truth be told, White’s impact on the glass has been inconsistent this season. While a substantial presence on the boards isn’t exactly required for a point guard like White, it’s worth noting that he is averaging nearly a full rebound per game less than tonight’s NBA betting line of 3.5. For as strong as he’s been scoring, White has only eclipsed this rebounding threshold twice in the last eight games. This has been the case despite playing over 30 minutes in all but one of those contests. Tonight’s opponent, Cleveland, is not a great team offensively, but they do handle their own on the glass.Â
While White’s backcourt mate Lonnie Walker is set to miss this matchup with a wrist injury, he is hardly a major factor rebounding the ball in his own right. It seems safe to say that there isn’t much production to replace there. An NBA betting ROI of 31% is simply too good to pass up.
Jerami Grant Under 21.5 Points
It would be easy to look at the opposition that Grant and the Pistons face tonight and play his total points over. While the Thunder are far from the NBA’s best defense, the Pistons themselves don’t exactly score at a breakneck pace either. The one constant for Detroit early in the season was Grant. Scoring has been his statistical forte, evidenced by the 22.4 points he averages per game. Unfortunately, his recent scoring drought makes the under more appealing tonight.

In the last six games Grant has eclipsed tonight’s NBA player props total of 21.5 points just once. The shooting numbers have been absolutely dismal during this stretch. Outside of the lone over, Grant has shot 5-for-14, 4-for-12, 3-for-12, 4-for-14 and 5-for-13 during this recent slump. Getting back to double figures in each of the last three games after a pair of total duds is promising. However, it’s still below average compared to what he produced earlier in the season. This isn’t exactly a player that NBA betting analysts have been super high on in the past. He still contributes very little to the Pistons in other statistical categories.Â
After getting absolutely destroyed in their last two outings, look for the injury-riddled Thunder to play with more pride defensively on their home floor tonight. Until Grant proves he is out of his shooting slump, the under will remain the preferred play. Thanks to shopping the odds, there is a solid +100 price on this play at PointsBet.
