Pistons Spread (+7.5) Over Cavaliers

The spread has dropped a point since the opening line came out a few days ago. Detroit is at home, where they have played much better than on the road this year. The Pistons defeated the Cavaliers 115-105 at Little Caesars Arena behind Cade Cunningham’s triple-double, Isaiah Stewart’s double-double and Sadiq Bey’s 31 points. Plus, the Cavaliers will not have Darius Garland and Caris LeVert tonight, although Lauri Markkanen is probable after missing the last month with an ankle injury. The Cavs are a much different team without Garland, posting a 6-5 record in games he missed. Moreover, only one of their six victories has been by eight points or more without Garland.

Bulls Spread (-4.0) Over Hawks; Over 235.5 Points

This should be a very entertaining, high-scoring game. Chicago and DeMar DeRozan were rolling before the All-Star break. The Bulls enter the contest on a five-game winning streak while averaging over 121 points and a winning margin of nearly 10 points. DeRozan has scored 30 or more points in seven straight games and Zach LaVine is expected to be available after missing three games before the All-Star break. Plus, Chicago has been excellent at home and owns a 27-6 record against teams with a sub .500 record.

Atlanta has struggled mightily on the defensive end this year, ranking 27th in the league in defensive efficiency. The Hawks have also struggled on the road against good teams. John Collins is not expected to play due to the foot injury that cost him three games prior to the break.

Chicago defeated Atlanta in their two previous meetings, winning each game by double digits. The Bulls have tallied 130 points in each as their starters led by DeRozan, LaVine, and Nikola Vucevic have been terrific against the Hawks.

Grizzlies Moneyline (-145) Over Timberwolves; Under 239.5 Points

This is the game of the night. The Grizzlies closed out the first half of the season playing fabulously while the Timberwolves were playing well. Memphis has won two of the three matchups against Minnesota. The Grizzlies have gone 33-11, including winning 17 of 21 on the road since losing to the Wolves in Minnesota on Nov. 20. There should be plenty of offense in this game, as both teams rank among the top five in the league in scoring and top-10 in scoring efficiency. The keys to the game will be defensive rebounding, turnovers and getting to the free throw line.

While the expectation is that there will be a lot of points put on the board, the point total seems too high. Awesemo projects that there will be fewer than 238 points scored. Meanwhile, OddsShopper gives the under a 54% chance of hitting with an expected ROI of 3%.

Seth Curry Over 15.5 Points

With all of the Nets’ injuries and Brooklyn being home, Seth Curry will be counted on to lead the team offensively. Curry has played well since coming over from Philadelphia, although he did struggle in his last outing against Washington. He has reached the 20-point mark in two of his three games with the Nets and averages 18.3 points, along with 4.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists. He shoots 48.8% from the field and 52.2% from beyond the arc with the team. Curry, projected for 17.5 points tonight, has played exceptionally well against the Celtics this year. OddsShopper gives the over a 61% chance of hitting with an expected ROI of 16%.

Clint Capela Over 10.5 Rebounds

Since the expectation is that there will be a lot of points on the scoreboard in the Hawks vs. Bulls contest, there should also be a lot of rebound opportunities.

Clint Capela has dominated the boards in the two games between the teams, getting a rebound every two minutes that he has been on the floor. He has totaled 31 boards including 10 on the offensive end in just 56 minutes of action versus the Bulls. Capela has had at least 11 rebounds in four of his last eight contests while averaging 10.8 a game during this stretch. He is projected for 12.6 rebounds tonight. OddsShopper gives the over a 71% chance of hitting with an expected ROI of 21%.
