PGA DFS Golf Picks: Honda Classic Round 3

Rounds 1-2 Recap

Daniel Berger has been able to shrug off any bad back problems that he has been dealing with this year. And vaulted out to a third shot lead over the field. With not much-proven talent/winners directly behind him, he could end up running away with this. PGA National was noticeable harder today with the winds picking up and much harder pin locations than in Round 1. Berger shot a 5-under 65 for the second straight day, while the day’s lowest score and the best round went to Mark Hubbard and Sepp Straka, who shot a 6-under 64. Louis Oosthuizen also played his last 15 holes at 7 under par and ended up making the cut with ease after his Round 2 run. John Huh and Nick Taylor also rallied after bad first rounds, posting a 65 on the day. That rounded up the scores that were at 65 or better, as the golf course certainly won the day, with the scoring average north of 71.5.

DraftKings & FanDuel Fantasy Golf Preview: Round 3 Honda Classic

  • Grand Prize: DraftKings offers $50,000 to first place and $150,000 guaranteed for the third-round slate.

Best PGA DFS Golf Picks Today for DraftKings Showdown

  • Shane Lowry ($9,000): Lowry has looked very good over the first two rounds in his first start on the PGA Tour for the season. He could not really make that many putts in Round 1, but in Round 2, they were falling, shooting a 3-under 67. He is the closest stud to and likely will not draw nearly as much attention in Round 3 as he will in Round 4 if he has a good round.
  • Keith Mitchell ($9,200): If he makes the weekend, he has to be in play for showdown. Mitchell, although he sits ten back of Berger, has moved up the leaderboard in every week he has made the cut. He is in form off the tee, gaining over 2.25 strokes in the two rounds, and his putter is flowing as well, gaining over a stroke. So, if the irons pick up and the other two remain solid, then he will jolt up the leaderboard in Round 3.
  • Russell Knox ($7,900): This year, Knox’s iron game has really picked up, and because of that, he has had some really consistent results. He is back in the mix here again thru two rounds, having gained over four strokes with his approaches through two rounds. He has good results here when he makes the cut and is still in the value salary range. An easy third golfer to roster for the third-round slate.
  • Gary Woodland ($7,800) Maybe all that is needed for him and Rickie Fowler ($7,300) is to see the weekend. For Woodland, he has himself just outside of the top 10 after back-to-back rounds of 69. He picked up his iron play in Round 2, which should give him plenty of momentum and confidence over the weekend. Looking for some lower-priced low plays for Round 3, then take a look at Beau Hossler ($6,700) and Chase Seiffert ($6,400).
