2022 Bluegreen Vacation Duels NASCAR DFS Picks

The original NASCAR Cup Series qualifying heat races, the Duels, have been the standard for setting the field for the Daytona 500 for decades. Single-car qualifying on Wednesday night, the 16th, will set the order for the two Duel races on Thursday evening. While the drivers who run the fastest and second-fastest qualifying times will have their starting orders for the Daytona 500 cemented, the rest of the field will be set by their finishing positions in these Duels.

For the chartered teams, where they finish is mostly a formality. However, for the teams without a charter, out finishing one another is of paramount importance, as these teams will have to fight for the four open spots. Only two open spots will be awarded from each race, meaning one driver from each Duel will be going home and not racing in the Daytona 500.

Expectations are that racing should be fairly clean, at least for Daytona standards, as most of these teams still do not have a full fleet of cars or even replacement parts should a wreck occur that does not completely wipe out a vehicle. However, for these one-off programs like Beard Motorsports, doing whatever it takes to get in the race could be all that matters, as getting in this field could dictate finances for the rest of the season and any future events.
