NBA Best Bets: Game Tips & Expert Betting Predictions

Spurs vs. Cavaliers Best Bet

The Spurs travel to Cleveland on Wednesday to face off with the Cavaliers inside Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. This will be the first game of an eight-game road trip for San Antonio. The Cavs are coming off a gritty 98-85 win against Indiana on Sunday after being down by as many as 20 points. Cleveland is excited for their newest team member, Caris LeVert, who is expected to join the team on Wednesday. He can provide a nice offensive spark the team has been lacking with Darius Garland and Colin Sexton sidelined. These two teams have faced off once this season, with Cleveland taking home the win 114-109 in San Antonio. The Spurs will be looking to get revenge on Cleveland and secure back-to-back wins for the first time since Christmas weekend.

The Spurs enter Wednesday 20-34 record and 9-16 on the road game. They have lost three of their last four games, but they are coming into this one off of a win in their last game against the Houston Rockets. San Antonio is averaging 111.5 points on 46.6% shooting and allowing 111.5 points on 46.4% shooting. They have 11 players averaging double figures in points per game. Dejounte Murray leads the team, averaging 19.6 points, while Keldon Johnson is second with 15.4 points. Lonnie Walker IV (knee) and Tre Jones (Dental) are both questionable for Wednesday. If they are unable to go, Derrick White will see an increase in minutes, as the team will be thin at the guard position. The Spurs rank top 10 in effective field goal percentage over the last 10 games.

Cleveland continues to be a juggernaut in the Eastern Conference. They smashed their win total set by Vegas before All-Star break and are 1.5 games back from the No. 1 spot in the East. With the addition of LeVert, the Cavaliers are contenders to win the conference given their size in the frontcourt and veteran leadership off the bench with Rajon Rondo and Kevin Love. This will be no easy test knowing they are in the toughest division in the East, but if the Cavs can stay healthy, watch out for them. Cleveland is averaging 106.5 points on 46.4% shooting and allowing 102.1 points on 44% shooting. Garland is averaging 19.8 points and 8.2 assists, while Jarrett Allen is averaging 16.2 points and 11.1 rebounds. Garland is questionable for Wednesday due to back soreness. If he is able to suit up, the league may get their first look at a LeVert-Garland backcourt.

These two teams have covered tonight’s line in their last five matchups with the total averaging 232.4 points. The over is 20-7-1 in their last 28 meetings overall. The Spurs have gone over the current line in eight of their last nine games overall. While Cleveland has been dominant on the defensive end of the floor over the last 10 games, the Spurs know how to score and love to push the pace. San Antonio ranks second in field goal attempts per game which allows for more opportunity to score buckets. The Cavaliers offense will look for a spark with LeVert expected to see his first action as a Cavalier on their home court. Anticipate this game to run at a similar pace to their recent matchups with the total going over in tonight’s game.

Warriors vs. Jazz Best Bet

After a slight bump in the road for the Warriors, they have rattled off nine consecutive wins and enter Wednesday looking to extend that streak to 10 games against the Jazz tonight. Utah is thrilled to have Donovan Mitchell back in the lineup, responding to a five-game losing streak with three straight wins. The Jazz are slowly building momentum during their homestand and will look to spoil Golden State’s trip to Utah in a battle between two Western Conference powerhouses. These two teams have met twice this season, with the Warriors taking home the victory in both matchups.

The Warriors will look for their third win against the Jazz this season and 10th win in a row, but they will have to do so without Klay Thompson (rest), Draymond Green (back) and Andre Iguodala (back) on Wednesday. Thompson will not play due to rest, as he will continue to do in the Warriors’ first game of a back-to-back. Green will not return from his back injury until after the All-Star break. Keep an eye on the latest status of Kevon Looney, as he listed as questionable with a quad contusion. His absence would be a hit to a Warriors frontcourt that is depleted. Despite all the injuries, the Warriors still hold the best net rating in the league, dominating teams on both ends of the floor. The Warriors rank ninth in offensive rating and first in defensive rating. Their offense is scoring 110.9 points per game, while their defense is second in the league in points per game.

The Utah Jazz are 33-21 on the season and 18-10 on their home court. They will be without star center Rudy Gobert, who is dealing with a calf injury that has sidelined him for the last seven games. Utah is getting quality minutes from Gobert’s backup Udoka Azubuike, who has posted double-digit rebounds in three straight games. Joe Ingles was diagnosed with a season-ending torn ACL. Rudy Gay is questionable heading into tonight’s game with right knee soreness. Donovan Mitchell leads the team in scoring, averaging 25.7 points per game. The Jazz lead the NBA in offensive rating and points per game (113.6) but average 4.5 fewer points without Gobert in the lineup. Defensively the Jazz have been dominant on their home court, holding opponents to 105 points or less in their last five home games.

Both teams will need to adjust their game plan with several key players sitting out tonight. While the over has been the hot trend in their recent head-to-head matchups, Golden State is just 20-32-2 over/under on the season and 10-15 over/under on the road. Utah is 26-27-21 over/under on the season, with the game total going under in their last seven home games. It can be a scary thought taking the under in a game with the top 3-point shooting teams squaring off, but Utah’s recent defensive success on their home court paired with the ability to apply more pressure on Curry tonight should lead to fewer points. Look for this to be a statement game for Utah and for both teams to lock in defensively. Take the under in tonight’s Western Conference showdown.
