Last night, T.J. McConnell got the start for Indiana, with Malcolm Brogdon out with a hamstring injury. Due to an off-shooting night and a tough matchup against a Nets team that was desperate for a win, the result wasn’t what those who played McConnell hoped for. However, he is in a bounce-back spot against the Raptors tonight. Brogdon looks like he could miss another game, and even if Caris LeVert does make his season debut, the full helping of minutes will likely not be there.
Not only is this matchup positive for McConnell, allowing him to score more today, but it’s positive for the rest of his teammates as well. This could be a spot where McConnell pushes for double-digit assists, if everything clicks for this Pacers team. It’s been a fantastic season for Mo Bamba, who is coming off an 18-rebound, three-block game. With a matchup against the lowly Pistons, everything points to another great performance from Bamba, whose modest price allows him to fit in any lineup and give users a cheap, high-ceiling play. After putting up over 50 NBA daily fantasy points last night, the Awesemo Boom/Bust Tool gives Bamba a ceiling of about 42 points, though we just saw he can put up even better numbers.
Bam Adebayo: $7,700 DraftKings/$7,900 FanDuel | 36.9% DraftKings Boom/33.0% FanDuel Boom
Bam Adebayo has been an animal to start this season, including a 26-point, 19-rebound game last night. He is getting to the free-throw line and converting often, while also showing his high motor on the boards. These two aspects of his game show he is matchup-proof, though that won’t be an issue today, with a positive matchup against Memphis. He should continue to do what he does, and the fact that the Grizzlies have a couple of post players they want to utilize is great since Adebayo could improve upon his block numbers if given enough opportunities. The Awesemo Boom/Bust Tool gives Adebayo a floor of around 35 NBA fantasy points but a ceiling of about 48.
Top Bust Candidates
Ja Morant: $9,400 DraftKings/$10,100 FanDuel | 65.7% DraftKings Bust/84.8% FanDuel Bust
We have seen the price of Ja Morant rise to the point where he needs a great game to simply return value. Anything less than elite play from the young guard will result in him being a “bust,” in comparison to his price, which is why we see him fall here. Morant also faces off with the Miami Heat today, who looks to be one of the best defensive teams in the NBA this season. Look for Miami to key on Morant today, limiting his overall upside. Awesemo’s projections give him a -8.27 value on DraftKings and -14.04 on FanDuel today.
