DraftKings + FanDuel Boom/Bust Projections | Feb. 8

NBA Fantasy Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Boom Candidates

DeMarcus Cousins vs. Hornets: $7,100/$6,000

28.5% DraftKings Boom/58.3% FanDuel Boom

The king of the Boom/Bust tool is back. Cousins has made more appearances in my column than any other player in the league this season because he never gets properly priced up when starting. Christian Wood remains out with his ankle injury, and Cousins is playing big minutes as a starter. He is stuck behind Wood when everybody is healthy, but it’s a totally different situation when Cousins moves into the starting lineup. As a starter he plays 30 minutes per game and averages over 40 fantasy points. We also have Eric Gordon and John Wall resting, which will add to his usage.

Bradley Beal vs. Bulls: $10,800/$9,000

28.5% DraftKings Boom/13.7% FanDuel Boom

Since this is the tail end of a back-to-back, Russell Westbrook went from unlikely to play to officially out because of rest. Since this is the case, Beal is going to have to do everything for Washington. As is, he leads the league in scoring and plays a massive role for Washington every night. When Westbrook is off the court, his numbers go through the roof in a big way. Without Westbrook, Beal has a 39.8% usage rate and scores over 55 fantasy points per 36 minutes. On DraftKings he is a must have in cash games. For FanDuel he’s a priority play, but his salary doesn’t make him quite as strong of an option as he is on DraftKings.

Latest NBA DFS Content

DeMar DeRozan vs. Warriors: $8,100/$7,700

26.3% DraftKings Boom/31.3% FanDuel Boom

As long as LaMarcus Aldridge is out, DeRozan is a strong play until his salary goes up. He is stringing together some big fantasy games, and it’s because Aldridge has a hip injury that is keeping him out of the lineup. Without Aldridge, DeRozan sees a 3.6% usage bump and scores nearly 50 fantasy points per 36 minutes. A matchup against the Warriors should benefit DeRozan due to the pace of play. Golden State is playing at the second-fastest pace in the league now that Stephen Curry is back and healthy.

NBA Fantasy Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Bust Candidates

Norman Powell vs. Grizzlies: $6,500/$6,500

63.5% DraftKings Bust/49.1% FanDuel Bust

Powell continues to pick up ownership when he shouldn’t. Now that the Raptors have everybody healthy other than O.G. Anunoby, a dip in production for Powell seems inevitable. He’s had some big games lately, although it’s mostly due to inflated steal rates. Powell is averaging 2.0 steals in the last three games, which is certain to regress. As a whole, all of the Raptors’ rate as poor plays for me. I don’t have much interest in rostering Fred VanVleet, Kyle Lowry or Pascal Siakam either.
