Boom/Bust NBA Fantasy Projections | May 9

NBA DraftKings + FanDuel Boom Candidates

Luka Doncic vs. Cavaliers: $11,000/$10,600

17.7% DraftKings Boom/26.6% FanDuel Boom

Luka Doncic faced off against the Cavs last time out, leading to roughly 1.5 NBA fantasy points per minute. The issue is that he played just 23 minutes, due to winning by a large margin and also playing on the second leg of a back-to-back. Today, if we can get more minutes out of Luka, it should be a great performance. Awesemo is currently projecting nearly 34 minutes for the young star. If he sees that much floor time, he should give us a big performance.

Naji Marshall vs. Hornets: $4,700/$4,800

29.0% DraftKings Boom/36.9% FanDuel Boom

Zion Williamson is already ruled out for New Orleans, and Brandon Ingram is currently doubtful to play. This opens the door for a big performance from Naji Marshall, at a cheap price. He is able to fill up the stat sheet in a hurry, racking up five rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block last game in 27 minutes. The issue was the off shooting night. If Marshall can shoot even average, he will see more than 27 minutes and also give us an NBA fantasy “boom” performance.

James Johnson vs. Hornets: $3,800/$4,400

40.6% DraftKings Boom/40.8% FanDuel Boom

As stated above, Zion is out and Ingram is doubtful. At a cheap price, the veteran James Johnson should be able to return solid value. Last game, he totaled 10 points, four rebounds and two blocks in 26 minutes. While he could score a bit more today, that is close to expected for Johnson. What kept his overall score down was the lack of assists, with one. A reason for this was the aforementioned terrible shooting night of Naji Marshall. Expect more assists for Johnson today en route to a solid fantasy performance.

NBA DraftKings + FanDuel Bust Candidates

Chris Paul vs. Lakers: $7,800/$8,400

64.5% DraftKings Bust/62.3% FanDuel Bust

Chris Paul has been pretty bad for fantasy lately, and that’s because he is playing lower minutes down the stretch of this season. He has played 30 minutes or less in four of his past five games. The has also been a bust in those games. Facing a poor, shorthanded Lakers team today, the likelihood of this pattern continuing is high. There are better places to go than Paul.
