Max Scherzer O/U 4.5 Strikeouts
PrizePicks got some heat for Clayton Kershaw failing to hit the Taco Tuesday last week. Kershaw didn’t make too much sense since he was limited in starts prior. But with Max Scherzer, this one makes all the sense in the world.
Since being acquired at the deadline, Scherzer has hit this line in five of seven starts and 77% of his starts this season dating back to his tenure with the New York Mets. There’s no doubt that his opponent tonight in the Toronto Blue Jays is a tall task to strikeout – they rank in the top 10 in strikeout rate to RHP in the last month, but Scherzer is a workhorse with the books expecting a solid performance out of the RHP. They’ve set his “earned run” prop at 2.5 with vig on the under.

Freddy Peralta O/U 1.5 Earned Runs
Freddy Peralta has been on a heater as of late, but this is a great spot to fade the RHP. Peralta was cruising in his last start against the Pittsburgh Pirates but then allowed two hits and two earned runs in the sixth inning before being pulled.
The Miami Marlins are no cupcakes to RHP. They lit up Aaron Nola for four runs over the weekend but were just shut out by Brandon Woodruff who has been dominant since returning from a long stint on the IL. This is just a number we can’t ignore as Peralta has allowed at least two earned runs in 63% of his starts this season. If Peralta loses his command, which has happened on multiple occasions this season, I trust the top of the Marlins order to make him pay for it.

Cody Bellinger O/U 0.5 Runs Scored
The Coors Field special. We may not even have to trust the Cubs hitters behind Bellinger to knock him in for this pick’em play to cash. Cody Bellinger has all the makings to hit a home run and cash this play by himself. After mustering just one hit last night, Bellinger is now used to the altitude in Colorado and will look to drive one out against RHP Chris Flexen who has been awful this season.
Flexen ranks in the bottom five percentile in xBA, xERA and strikeout rate. All key metrics point to Flexen getting lit up at home where he has a 5.89 ERA. Bellinger has crossed home run plate in seven of his last 10 games including last night. Dansby Swanson, who will be hitting behind Bellinger, is a huge threat to Flexen as he has seven hits in his last three games.
