NFL DFS Picks: Full Friday NFL DFS Slate

NFL DFS Picks: Quarterback

Tommy DeVito (New York) — According to Giants head coach Brian Daboll, starting quarterback Daniel Jones may play briefly in this game. However, New York does not seem interested in evaluating Jones or his backup, Tyrod Taylor. Last week, Taylor only played eight snaps, allowing Tommy DeVito to play 51 snaps. DeVito only completed 15 of 24 passes for 155 yards, one score and one interception. The expanded playing time makes DeVito a solid quarterback for NFL DFS on Friday.

Matt Corral (Carolina) — Matt Corral led the Panthers with 37 snaps in relief of Bryce Young, who made a brief appearance. Corral struggled in most of his time on the field, completing 15 of 22 passes for 126 scoreless yards and a touchdown. He also rushed once for 7 yards but fumbled twice. Andy Dalton continues to deal with minor ailments that hold him out and it looks like Young will only appear briefly again this week. Jake Luton may also get a look on the field. All this could reduce Corral’s playing time, but he is the favorite to lead the team in snaps at the position.

Trevor Siemian (Cincinnati)After Jake Browning started preseason Week 1, the Bengals will give Siemian his chance in Week 2. Last week, Siemian played 28 snaps, while Browning led the position with 38. Neither played particularly well, but Siemian completed 15 of 28 passes for 121 scoreless yards and an interception. Neither quarterback runs, which hurts their NFL Preseason DFS outlook. However, a half of football from either quarterback could be serviceable here.

Logan Woodside (Atlanta) — Former Tennessee backup Logan Woodside played 54 snaps in preseason Week 1 with Atlanta. However, Desmond Ridder and backup Taylor Heinicke did not see the field. This week, Atlanta will briefly play its starters, and presumably their backups. This should reduce Woodside’s snaps to around a half in Week 2.

NFL DFS Picks: Running Back

Chase Brown (Cincinnati) — Joe Mixon and Trayveon Williams will not appear in this game. Apparently, Cincinnati has little interest in seeing the back end of their roster, as well. They fed Chase Brown 42 snaps in Week 1, while Chris Evans received 21. Brown struggled in those opportunities, turning eight carries into just 12 yards.

Chris Evans (Cincinnati) — Evans only played 21 snaps, but he proved to be more efficient than Brown in that small sample size. He rushed seven times for 49 yards in Week 1. Neither back caught a pass out of the backfield. Ultimately, Brown’s edge in snaps keeps him ahead of Evans as an NFL DFS pick, but both backs are solid options.

Eric Gray (New York) — Gary Brightwell has yet to return to practice, leaving New York with four running backs. That said, Matt Breida and James Robinson only appeared briefly in their first game. Breida already has a clear role as backup in New York, while Robinson provides a warm body. Gray was a 2023 fifth round pick out of Oklahoma and led this group with 23 snaps last week. He and Jashaun Corbin should continue to see the most work as they battle for RB3 duties.

Godwin Igwebuike (Atlanta) — Like quarterback, the Atlanta starters expect to get limited playing time, including Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier. While this reduces available snaps for Godwin Igwebuike and Carlos Washington Jr., the pair should still play a fair amount. Washington out-snapped Igwebuike 33-21 last week. However, Igwebuike out-carried Washington 13-12. more importantly, he proved more efficient with 70 rushing yards and a score on his opportunities. Washington did catch three passes, making both backs decent options.

Raheem Blackshear (Carolina) — The Panthers used three backs in their preseason opener, with Miles Sanders on the shelf. Chuba Hubbard also played just 11 snaps as the clear backup. An interesting situation, Spencer Brown actually led this group with 20 snaps and eight carries. Raheem Blackshear played 17 snaps, but he only received one carry. This will likely normalize in Week 2, giving both viability here.

NFL DFS Picks: Wide Receiver

Andrei Iosivas (Cincinnati) — Cincinnati projects to use nine receivers here as they evaluate their young players. Rookies Andrei Iosivas and Charlie Jones fit this mold more than any other player. Iosivas played 40 snaps in his debut. Iosivas turned 10 targets into 50 scoreless yards in Week 1.

Charlie Jones (Cincinnati) — Jones played 38 snaps in preseason Week 1, turning six targets into two catches for 11 yards. The third receiver here should be Kwamie Lassiter.

Shi Smith (Carolina) — The Carolina starters only appeared briefly last week. They are now more banged up at the position with Terrace Marshall, Derek Wright, and Damiere Byrd all missing time. Their starters are only expected to play briefly, leaving ample opportunity for young players. Last week, Shi Smith played 27 snaps, catching his only target for 20 yards. Another option could be Javon Wims. He played a team-high 31 snaps, catching two of seven targets for 23 yards.

Bryce Ford-Wheaton (New York) — The Giants project to use nine receivers here. In addition to the Sterling Shepard and Wan’Dale Robinson rehabs, Collin Johnson and Cole Beasley have missed time with injury. Last week, 2023 undrafted free agent Bryce Ford-Wheaton led the position with 42 snaps. David Sills V is the most interesting option. behind Ford-Wheaton.

Josh Ali (Atlanta) — Atlanta projects to use seven receivers, which is more than any other team on this slate. Josh Ali played the second-most snaps at the position (18) behind only Penny Hart (23). Ali turned three targets into one catch for 14 yards. Ultimately, this is the worst receiver situation to target on this slate.

NFL DFS Picks: Tight End

Devin Asiasi (Cincinnati) — Devin Asiasi led the Bengals tight ends with 34 snaps and 26 routes. He did not see a target, but this playing time is noteworthy. It should be noted that Tanner Hudson suffered a concussion in last week’s game. If Hudson can return to the field, he would come in as a superior play to Asiasi.

Tommy Tremble (Carolina) — Carolina has four healthy tight ends with the injury to Stephen Sullivan. Former Notre Dame tight end, Tommy Tremble led the position with 19 snaps and 14 routes last week. He caught his only target for 12 scoreless yards.

Tucker Fisk (Atlanta) — Rumor has it that Kyle Pitts could appear briefly in this game. Even if he sits, Jonnu Smith and Mycole Pruitt should play after sitting out last. This puts up to six tight ends into the mix, when Atlanta only used two last week. With that said, Tucker Fisk should still play in mop up duty after catching three passes on 36 snaps last week.

Tommy Sweeney (New York) — New York used five tights last week and that could expand to six, if Darren Waller plays briefly with the first team. Tommy Sweeney led this group with 20 snaps and participated in seven routes. This is a lackluster group.
