OwnersBox NFL DFS Picks: Steelers-Raiders DFS Values for Sunday Night Football (September 24)

OwnersBox NFL DFS Prime Time Flex format allows players to roster both quarterbacks and you won’t have to pay 1.5x the price for the SuperFlex spot. That makes low owned value options a great way to get “different” with your roster constructions. It’s easy to point out the solid projections of the quarterbacks or stud wideouts like Davante Adams, but let’s look at the bottom of the board from a salary and ownership perspective heading into this Pittsburgh Steelers-Las Vegas Raiders OwnersBox DFS Sunday Night Football slate.

Top NFL DFS Value Plays

Pat Freiermuth – $3,700

NFL DFS fans are patiently waiting for Pat Freiermuth to break out. The Steelers third-year tight end caught 60 passes in his first two seasons in the pros. He’s managed just two receptions on five targets in the first two weeks of 2023. Four of those targets were in Week 1, with just one pass going Freiermuth’s way last week against the Cleveland Browns. The talent and background are there for him, despite the continuing price drop to $3,700.

It’s surprising to see Freiermuth this low, and it’s hard to imagine that his ownership won’t reflect that. That said, it’s hard to go below $4,000 on OwnersBox NFL DFS for Sunday Night Football and not see the glaring value here. Freiermuth projects for 9.46 fantasy points, which makes him the top spend-down option on this Steelers-Raiders Prime Time Flex slate.

Calvin Austin III – $3,500

Don’t look past Calvin Austin III. The Steelers wideout is quickly becoming a regular part of their rotation. He’s low on the depth chart, but Austin is managing to find his way on the field and command targets. Austin saw six passes thrown his way in Week 1 and four in Week 2. That’s plenty of opportunity for a min-priced player in an offense that likes to pass.

Austin projects for 8.66 fantasy points this week. That’s a solid numbe,r and he’ll allow you to fit higher price names into your lineup constructions. He’s a bit cheaper than Freiermuth and Allen Robinson II but could also come with less ownership. He’s someone to consider for OwnersBox NFL DFS for Sunday Night Football.

Allen Robinson II – $3,900

Robinson slots in just below Austin. He has bounced around the league since his days as a top outside receiver with the Jaguars and Bears. He can still get it done in a pinch and is looking to solidify his role as a rotation piece alongside the Steelers’ top wideout, George Pickens.

Robinson is projected for 7.81 points this week. The name recognition could lead Robinson to pick up some ownership, but he’s still well into the value range to warrant consideration.

Austin Hooper – $3,500

Austin Hooper joined the Las Vegas Raiders this season after a one-year stint with the Tennessee Titans. The Raiders are Hooper’s fourth team. One thing is certain: Wherever Hooper ends up he performs consistently. He won’t wow anyone, but he is a solid all-around tight end that can see playing time in all facets of the game due to solid blocking and decent pass-catching prowess. The Raiders haven’t gone to him often, but at the minimum $3,500, he is a fine, low-owned value option that can fall into the end zone in an optimal lineup.

Hooper has a 5.27 fantasy point projection on this slate. He’s the top spend-down option on this Raiders offense, so if you’re going heavy on Las Vegas and Jimmy Garoppolo, this is one place to look.

Hunter Renfrow – $3,800

Like Robinson, Hunter Renfrow is another veteran wideout with name recognition. But also like Robinson, Renfrow’s name doesn’t live up to his fantasy potential. His role in this offense has diminished significantly since the Raiders signed Jakobi Meyers this offseason. Renfrow is now the clear third or fourth option on their receiver depth chart.

We know the talent is there for Renfrow, and he can pick up some catches in a pinch. He projects for 4.65 fantasy points, which could be worth a flier at low ownership.

Michael Mayer – $3,500

The Raiders invested a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft in Michael Mayer. The team is bound to get him into the rotation at some point this year to see what they have. Mayer did catch one pass last week, and there’s no reason to think that he can’t unseat Hooper. Hooper will keep the seat warm for now, but that could change. Mayer is the minimum salary, so this could be a decent time to buy at the lowest possible price. He has an average projection of 2.63 for this OwnersBox NFL DFS slate on Sunday night.
