Week 4 NFL Survivor Picks: Take the Gamble With the Lions, or Stay on the Safe Side With Green Bay?

Week 4 of the NFL season is here, and like each week in survivor, the field continues to thin. Several favorites went down in Week 3, which means those who are sill in have that much better of a chance for the big payday by being the last remaining team in survivor pools. Most of the big names are still available, and byes are not yet a factor this week.

NFL Survivor Picks and Recap | Week 4

Week 3 NFL Survivor Pool Recap

Bengals (-6 at Jets)

Sitting at 0-2, last week was a borderline must-win for the defending AFC champions. The Jets are a team to constantly target in survivor, and that made Cincinnati a very reasonable target. Add in that the Chargers’ situation became a complete mess throughout the week, and many additional people jumped on the Bengals en route to a relatively sweat-free survivor pick.

Chiefs (-6.5 at Colts)

One of the biggest land mines of Week 3 was the Chiefs, who were unable to hold a late lead in Indianapolis. Patrick Mahomes and the offense had several chances to put the game away, but ultimately they allowed Indianapolis to hang around too long and steal a game at home. It was a gigantic win for the Colts, and this was where most of the casualties from last week’s survivor pools came from.

Chargers (-3.5 vs. Jaguars)

What a wild ride with the Chargers last week. They were around 7-point favorites until late in the week when news started to come out that Justin Herbert was likely to sit. That dropped the spread around 4 points and forced a ton of people off the Chargers. On Sunday it then trended the other way, but no clear status was really given about Herbert until most of the games were locked. In some ways, the lack of clarity was a favor, as many people moved off the Chargers to safer positions and avoided what was a lifeless effort against the Jaguars.

Week 4 NFL Survivor Pool Picks

Lions (-5.5 vs. Seahawks)

Attacking the Lions in survivor is usually a strategy reserved for late in the season when there are no reasonable teams left. The 2022 version of Detroit looks to be improved, and this provides a reasonable target in Week 4 survivor. They draw the Seahawks at home, and despite some potential injuries on offense, they are still one of the bigger favorites on the slate. They are first in the entire NFL is yards per carry, and that type of ground attack should allow them to get past Seattle in this spot.

Packers (-10.5 vs. Patriots)

Most weeks there is a clear and obvious choice, and in Week 4 it’s the Green Bay Packers. A double-digit favorite that’s north of -500 in the betting markets makes this an easy play in survivor. To maximize chances of moving on to Week 5, pick the Packers but keep in mind it will be a popular selection. In addition, this is one of the premier teams in the NFC, and that will make the road tougher going forward.

Eagles (-6.5 vs. Jaguars)

There is no doubt the Jaguars have been impressive, but going into Philadelphia is not the ideal spot. The Eagles are running the ball at one of the most efficient clips in the league, and Jalen Hurts presents dynamic playmaking ability under center. The Eagles come in nearly a touchdown favorite at home and are playing like one of the best teams in the league. This is one of the highest moneylines available, so if not going to Green Bay, the Eagles have to at least be in the discussion in Week 4.

Week 4 NFL Survivor Pick: Lions

Teams Used: Ravens, Broncos, Bengals

Similar to the Chargers last week, there is some injury news to monitor here. The difference, however, is it’s not to the quarterback position, so unless there is a string of key playmakers ruled out, the Lions will be the pick. This is a long-term play, as getting rid of them is a bonus while preserving a team like Green Bay, who is the obvious pick this week. Detroit should grab another victory this week in their building.
