The 2021 NHL season is now over a month old, and it’s been unpredictable and entertaining. Like many sports, the easiest way to maximize your ceiling is through stacking, and that couldn’t be any truer in NHL DFS. For reference, each goal averages 1.7 assists. In this article I’ll help you find the best stacks and daily fantasy hockey picks for DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy hockey lineups using Awesemo’s Top Stack Tool.
Top Stacks: Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks | Feb. 26
Top Stack: ARI1
With 60% of projected ownership (if not more) concentrated on two stacks, we can find great leverage and upside in the Arizona top line, especially on DraftKings. With under 9% projected ownership and a price that keeps them out of full chalky stacks, differentiating is simplified.
Conor Garland has been the constant for this line all season, with over 3 shots per game and 18 points in 19 games to pace the team. His 6x upside at $5,600 on FanDuel is going to come with more ownership but gives great value as well. Clayton Keller and Nick Schmaltz are both offensive-minded players and have started two-thirds of their shifts in the offensive zone.
This play mostly comes down to ownership, especially on DraftKings where the line costs a bit more. As more of a value on FanDuel, you’ll need to be aware of how much you are running, or with whom.

Over-Owned Stack: BOS2
With projected ownership north of the line mentioned above, this Boston second line is just too popular. The top stacks tool is giving them over -4.5% leverage (that’s bad). In relation to their ownership and leverage, you can find multiple lines with greater ownership and far more leverage, such as COL1, LA1 and even MIN1. Obviously all of these lines are not in the same price tier, but it speaks to the ownership the potential of even more ownership for this line if they project well.
The Rangers have not been as dreadful on defense as we would expect, hanging around the middle in expected goals per 60 and goals allowed. And maybe more surprising is their penalty kill’s great success, with top-10 ranks across the board. If we put all of this together for NHL DFS, you get an over-owned play that doesn’t carry enough upside to meet that cap.
Leverage: -5.3%
Under-Owned Stacks: ARI2, MIN3
