NHL DFS Picks & Stacks for DraftKings & FanDuel Lineups | Bruins & Auston Matthews 10/22/21

After a full night of NHL DFS on Thursday, there is a four-game slate tonight. The Sharks and the Oilers are playing the back ends of back-to-backs. There will not be a morning skate for the Sharks or the Oilers because they both played last night. Make sure you are around for lock time or you are in our Discord for the line alerts. This Power Play article will use Awesemo’s Premium NHL Tools to help dole out the NHL DFS advice to help with building lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel tonight. The Awesemo NHL projections and ownership projections are two of the best tools to utilize when constructing stacks and making the optimal NHL DFS picks. Let’s go position by position and pinpoint some of the top plays and stacks for Friday, Oct. 22.

NHL DFS Picks, Tops Stacks & Lineup Optimizer Plays

Center

Auston Matthews (TOR vs. SJ): DraftKings — $8,500 | FanDuel — $8,800

Matthews missed the first three games of the season because of a wrist injury. He opened his season on Monday, getting blanked by the Rangers and losing 2-1 in overtime. He still managed eight shots on goal, though, which is starting to become a normal thing for him. San Jose has been very good at limiting shots and chances this year, but they are going to be tested a lot tonight. Matthews will get to take advantage of the Sharks, who are playing on the hind end of a back-to-back. Matthews’ numbers with Mitch Marner have been incredible: 54% Corsi-for, 2.92 expected goals per 60 and 16 high-danger chances. The John Tavares line will likely match up with the Logan Couture line most of the night, leaving Matthews to battle the depth lines, and he should get plenty of chances, especially with San Jose at the end of a back-to-back.

Winger

David Pastrnak (BOS at BUF): DraftKings — $7,700 | FanDuel — $8,200

Pastrnak has yet to hit the scoresheet, but that will change soon. Boston’s top line has been dominant for a couple of years, and it is always a factor of salary price and being able to fit them in a roster without punting the rest of the lineup. In the two games Pastrnak has played he has tallied a helper in each game and registered at least four shots on goal. Buffalo opened the year up playing very good defensive hockey, but their competition was on the weaker side. They have not faced a phenomenal possession team like the Bruins yet. The Bruins top line is extremely lethal, and they can fill the net up in a hurry, especially on the power play where they fully correlate.

Adrian Kempe (LA at DAL): DraftKings — $3,200 | FanDuel — $3,600

Looking for value is tough on small slates because the options are thin. The Kings second line has been a phenomenal puck possession line, with a 66% Corsi-for. Adding pivot Phillip Danault in the offseason helped them in that regard, as he has always been a good possession playmaker. Kempe has already flashed some upside this year, with five shots on goal against the Golden Knights. The full line correlates on the second power play, and if looking to get different on a four-game slate, looking to the Kings second line can help in tournaments.

Defensemen

Alex Pietrangelo (VGK vs. EDM): DraftKings — $6,000 | FanDuel — $6,400

Pietrangelo figures to be in for a big workload if linemate Alec Martinez is unable to go. Not that he needs a bigger workload, as he is already playing over 25 minutes a night. Pietrangelo will quarterback the blue line for the Golden Knights, and with Connor McDavid and company coming to town, he should see some extra block opportunities. Vegas has been hampered with injuries, but it is possible they will take advantage of the Oilers, who are playing the second of a back-to-back and their third in four nights. Stacking Pietrangelo with the William Karlsson line would provide a contrarian lineup, with all four guys correlating on the top power play as well.

Evan Bouchard (EDM at VGK): DraftKings — $3,700 | FanDuel — $4,000

Going back to the well with Bouchard is a great idea tonight. His ice time has increased a little each game, and he is being given more opportunities. He has been taking advantage of his opportunities and has 10 shots on goal in the past two games. At $3,400 he does not have to do a ton to pay that price tag off. The Golden Knights have been dealing with a ton of injuries, losing their best players Max Pacioretty and Mark Stone. Martinez may also be out, as he is now a game-time decision. Bouchard helps save salary while trying to jam in the high-priced studs.

Stacks

BOS1: 36.8% Top 2 Stack | 21.8% Ownership Share | 15% Leverage

The Bruins tend to always have a ton of leverage, even if their ownership seems high because their price is always sky high. It is not easy to fill out stacks when a line is $21,600. Tonight there are ways to do it, even on a short slate. The Sabres have been a decent team defensively, but they have not really faced a talent like the Bruins. Boston’s top line is one of the best possession lines in the game, and they can fill the net up in a hurry. Buffalo has the 18th-ranked expected goals against on special teams, and if they give the Bruins chances to get on the extra man advantage, they are going to be in trouble.
