MUST-BET 76ers vs. Timberwolves NBA Player Props & Betting Picks Today | James Harden 76ers Debut 2/25/22

James Harden will make his 76ers debut tonight in Minnesota alongside MVP frontrunner Joel Embiid. The Sixers have been off since they beat the Bucks heading into the All-Star break, while their hosts just played the Grizzlies last night. The story has been the arrival of Harden and how it will impact players like Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Tobias Harris. With all of the turmoil and absent players this season, the 76ers are still contending for the East and lead the Celtics in the Atlantic Division. It is unclear if Harden will be under any significant minutes restriction, as he has been out since February 2nd.

Minnesota had to gut one out against Memphis last night but came away victorious. The team got solid contributions all around, but none bigger than D’Angelo Russell‘s 37 points. As much focus as there will be on the Timberwolves backcourt of Russell and Patrick Beverley slowing down Harden, Karl-Anthony Towns should have his hands full battling Embiid. Minnesota also continues to get strong bench contributions from Michael Beasley, especially if Anthony Edwards struggles from deep. The Timberwolves enter this game fifth in the NBA in scoring, compared to the 76ers down at 21st in the league, all pre-Harden numbers.

76ers -2.5: -110 (DraftKings)

There is nothing that would indicate Harden is on some Klay Thompson-like pitch count tonight, so all systems should be go. Harden does so much to help this 76ers team, from facilitating better than Ben Simmons to knocking down 3-pointers. The center matchup should be a lot of fun to watch, but Embiid is on a mission this year and has not done much to alter that path. Even though he played on Sunday, Embiid should be plenty rested to battle Towns down low for 35 minutes. Neither team will blow the other one out, so eventually the legs will start to give a little quicker for Minnesota. The layoff does not factor in during the first game so much as it does towards the end of a back-to-back. Harden’s debut could not have come at a better time for Philadelphia; they desperately need more passing and better shooting, as Minnesota might get too reliant upon the 3-point shot. OddsShopper will always get the best deal, as is the case here, with the Sixers getting -2.5 at only one book in Pennsylvania.

James Harden Under 9.5 Assists: +110 (DraftKings)

It is hard to visualize a fully healthy Harden being limited to fewer than nine assists tonight, but once the data and projections shed light, it is a much easier play. The expectations are for Harden to fill a big passing void left by Simmons while taking advantage of having a tremendous scoring big man, but those have not played out yet on the floor. OddsShopper sees Harden going under his passing prop, with a 73% xWin and a 54% xROI on the bet. Awesemo’s projection for Harden assists tonight comes in at 7.9, a decent gap between the book and Awesemo.

Patrick Beverley Over 0.5 Blocks: +100 (DraftKings)

This is an even money bet based on a simple yes/no prop on whether Beverley can block a shot. It should not go unnoticed that DraftKings is returning even money for this, where a book may normally ask for a -110 play on something this cut and dry. Beverley is projected by Awesemo to finish with 1.2 blocks, giving a 71% chance from OddsShopper to hit. The 42% xROI on this play is also a fantastic addition to why the prop is so favorable. Beverley is a hawk on defense and has the ability to block shots straight up or on the lag. He should be live against two penetrating guards in Harden and Maxey.

James Harden Over 2.5 3’s: +140 (FanDuel)

There is no need to take a giant leap and push this to a four-plus prop, as the return is great at +140. Harden should be in the prime 3-point shooting position that was left open by Seth Curry’s departure, except that Harden is better than Curry at everything. The Sixers are near the bottom in 3-pointers attempted, but their opponent is not. Minnesota averages more 3-point attempts over the last three games than any team in the NBA, so Philadelphia will have to sink or swim. Harden should be out there like a shark, launching and keeping up with Minnesota. This should also bode well for other shooters like Maxey and Harris, but Harden will benefit the most.
