4 FREE Hornets vs. Bucks NBA Player Props & Betting Picks Today | 2/28/22

The Bucks have not looked like a champion in recent home games. Milwaukee comes into tonight losers of three out of four at home and four of five overall. The Bucks cannot even blame injury as outside of lingering injuries to Brook Lopez and Pat Connaughton — Milwaukee is healthy. Giannis Antetokounmpo has his two main contributors around him in Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton; it is just the Bucks have not played well on defense, giving up 119-plus points in each of their last five games. Despite their recent struggles, the Bucks are still putting up points, as they are fifth in the NBA in scoring average.

Things are even worse for the Charlotte Hornets, as they have dropped eight of their last 10 games. Charlotte almost had one last night but fell to the lowly Pistons in overtime. Terry Rozier and LaMelo Ball are pacing the backcourt with plenty of shooting opportunities, and Miles Bridges has provided some volume scoring, but the Hornets cannot stop anyone on the floor. They have one of the widest margins, as they lead the league in scoring average but are 28th in scoring defense.

Bucks -3.5 First Quarter Spread : -110 (BetRivers)

The Hornets are facing a tough set of circumstances that should lead to them getting beat up in the first quarter. Charlotte played a tough-fought game that went into overtime last night, and now it faces a Bucks team that’s much better than Detroit and needs to snap out of a funk. The Bucks simply are not playing well enough right now to take anyone lightly, and the Hornets give up so much on defense that the Bucks could hit 40 points after one.

OddsShopper will always return the best value and can be used to play everything down to a first quarter bet. The Hornets live and die — mostly the latter — on 3’s and should be forcing shots midway through the first quarter. The Bucks are not terrible on defense and will create some tough shooting opportunities for the Hornets. It is easier to take advantage of motivation from Milwaukee and exhaustion from Charlotte by betting the first quarter.

Mason Plumlee Under 8.5 Rebounds: -135 (DraftKings)

The Hornets have a major disadvantage on the glass against the Bucks, illustrated by that projections behind this play. OddsShopper has a 32% xROI on going under 8.5 rebounds with a 75% chance of hitting the prop. Awesemo’s projection for Mason Plumlee sits at 6.9 rebounds, a workable gap between the site and the total at the book. After a decent stretch of hitting double-digit rebounds, things have cooled off for Plumlee, and he has hit over the above rebound total just one time in his last three tries.

Grayson Allen Over 9.5 Points: -110 (DraftKings)

The Bucks saw Allen a little limited in his return from a hip injury, but his next game tonight should feature a heavier workload. Allen is projected by Awesemo to hit 11.5 points, which is a significant gap between what DraftKings offers and what Awesemo is predicting. OddsShopper has a 21% xROI on the bet and a 63% chance of Allen going over the prop. Milwaukee will not rely solely on their big three, and Allen should fit in nicely with a pacing that favors the 3-point shooter. Allen should be getting upwards of six to seven looks from 3 tonight, which should be plenty to push him over his points total.

Bobby Portis Over 2.5 Made 3’s: +142 (FanDuel)

These are two of the top 10 teams in 3-point attempts over their last three games, so both teams have no problem launching. The Hornets will do it to a fault, but the Bucks have been firing more as of recent and should not be ignored. Bobby Portis has been leading the charge over the past two games for the Bucks and should get plenty more looks from 3 tonight. Portis comes off a monster eight-3 night but is still getting a plus-money return on his regular total.

The public will avoid going after this simple bet and try to stack a higher play, like a four- or five-plus bet. It is not worth it since the books should be asking for a juiced play as opposed to returning plus-money, so it is a play on the volume for Portis and the return on the bet.
