Best Quick NHL Bets Today: Oilers Moneyline & Filip Forsberg Player Props for Tuesday, 1/25/22

Tuesday night serves up eight games for NHL betting, as the busy nights continue with makeup games across the league every night. Of the 16 teams on the schedule, only three are on back-to-backs (Stars, Golden Knights and Flyers), but going back further, every team has played at least twice since Friday, and some have played more. Now, determining the toll that has on the players is hard to measure, but it does explain odds and lines more. With four home dogs, it should be an interesting night once again, so let’s dig in.

Best NHL Bets Today: Player Prop Picks & Predictions

Oilers Moneyline vs. Canucks (-128, BetMGM)

The Oilers have struggled much of the last month but get a fantastic matchup on the road in Vancouver facing a Canucks team missing it is two best centers along with their starting goaltender due to COVID. On the flip side, Connor McDavid and the Oilers are actually getting somewhat healthy, with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins poised to return tonight, which helps bolster their depth, along with improving what is already the league’s best power play — 30.5%. In terms of expected win percentage per OddsShopper, the Oilers come in second only to the Predators, but with a far more favorable line nearly 40 points better.

If Thatcher Demko is able to return from COVID protocol, the line will change considerably towards even money, which still bodes well for NHL bets at just a 2% hold overall currently for the superior Oilers. With a 9-2 record versus the defensively challenged Pacific, regardless of what happens with the Canucks, the Oilers should take advantage of the depleted Vancouver roster.

Filip Forsberg First Goal vs. Kraken (+800, BetMGM)

The Predators head into Seattle as sizeable favorites (-167, BetMGM) with a team total over three, to continue today’s theme. Filip Forsberg paces the Predators in goals with 20 on the year, including three in his last five games. The Kraken have been miserable all year on both sides of the puck, including the league’s second-most goals when five-on-five, allowing over 3.1 per 60 minutes. Along with poor defense, the Kraken also struggle to possess the puck, which will give Forsberg plenty of time on the puck and opportunities to put it on net.

In comparison to all goal scorer props, Forsberg carries the highest expected win rate of any NHL bet at better than 10-1 odds. With his role and importance the offense he is their favorite to score as always, and with the expected win percentage being what it is, nothing looks more probable with great return.
