Ben Rasa’s Pick: Hideki Matsuyama

Outright: 25-1 (DraftKings)

I wouldn’t fault anyone for going Jon Rahm or Rory McIlroy up top with the way they are playing, but getting Hideki Matsuyama at 25-1 or better caught my eye. The Masters winner certainly has the approach game to deal with Bay Hill as long irons are a major factor. His game is in good shape, with a win already in 2022 and another top-10 at the Phoenix Open. If Matsuyama continues to gain with the putter, as he has been over the last few months, there is no reason he can’t add another win to what could be his best year yet on tour.

Jason Rouslin’s Pick: Corey Conners

Outright: 70-1 | Top 5: 12-1 | Top 10: 7-1 (DraftKings)

It hasn’t been a great start to the season for Conners, who has a couple of missed cuts and no top-10s. His irons haven’t been up to par, and his putting (outside of the Sony Open) has also been terrible. But a switch to full Bermuda and a return to a track where he has performed well before should help get things in a groove. Beyond all that, Conners also has the longest odds he’s had all year, providing a chance to get a quality golfer at higher-than-normal prices.

Geoff Ulrich’s Pick: Paul Casey

Outright: 40-1 (BetMGM)

I like more than one play at over 20-1 odds this week. Names like Matthew Fitzpatrick, Will Zalatoris and Adam Scott all come in with great form and as potential winners this week. Paul Casey belongs in this group of upper-tier players, though, and he comes in with better odds than any of them. Casey is sickly consistent with his irons, gaining strokes on approach now in 19 straight PGA Tour starts, and last year he was up there with the leaders in strokes gained tee to green at Bay Hill, putting in a solid 10th-place finish. He is playing well enough to go better this year and looks like the best value if fading the top names for outright betting purposes this week.

Eric Lindquist’s Pick: Matthew Fitzpatrick

Outright: 20-1 | Top 10 +200 (DraftKings)

I started my card this week with Rory McIlroy (11-1) and Matthew Fitzpatrick, two Jupiter, Fla., transplants in fantastic early-season form. Fitzpatrick has three consecutive top-10s at this event, including a runner-up finish in 2019, so Bay Hill is a track where he has proven he can excel. Additionally, he has never lost strokes putting at the Arnold Palmer in seven appearances, which combined with his strong iron play of late should lead to a lot of birdies. If going the McIlroy/Fitzpatrick route, don’t get too crazy scattering the back of the board with longshots. But with his exceptional course history and two top-10s in two events played this year, I am expecting more elite form from Fitzpatrick this week.
