Tonight’s Top Monkey Knife Fight MLB Picks

Monkey Knife Fight has a ton of profitable contests for the public, and here we will break down the two best areas from which to make MLB picks.

More or Less — Pick 2 | Prize: 3x

Tyler Mahle vs. Zack Wheeler

Mahle has been strong in three of his last four starts, allowing no more than two runs and striking out five in each of those. Tonight’s prop number of 5.5 strikeouts would seem achievable, but he has only exceeded that mark in one of his last four starts. The Phillies are right around league average in strikeout rate (23.3) against righties, but the contact has been more consistent of late. In the month of August eight of the 11 opposing starters to face Philadelphia failed to exceed 5.5 strikeouts.

Wheeler is coming off a complete-game shutout against his former Mets team. He spun an absolute gem, allowing only two hits and one walk while fanning 11 hitters. Much like the Phillies, the Reds are around league average in strikeout rate (23.2%) against righties. This will come down to Wheeler, though, and his masterful 6-3 record and 2.02 ERA in 14 starts at Citizens Bank Park this season. In fact, he has even struck out 116 batters in 98 innings on his home turf. No opposing starting pitcher has exceeded 7.5 strikeouts against the Reds since Aug. 3, but Wheeler will make sure to buck that trend.

Rapidfire — Pick 4 | Prize: 9x

For this contest, pick who will score more fantasy points in four head-to-head matchups to win nine times the buy-in.

Rafael Devers vs. Anthony Santander

Santander has been one of the best hitters in baseball recently. Over the last 10 games he is slashing .375/.405/.725 with two doubles, four home runs and seven RBIs. Devers is finding his way once again, having either a multi-hit game or extra-base hit in each of his last four. He is always a dangerous threat to get on base and should even have plenty of RBI opportunities against the Orioles pitching throughout the night. According to Awesemo’s expert projections, Devers is the top-rated hitter in this contest.

Xander Bogaerts vs. J.D. Martinez

This matchup of two Red Sox players is even heading into tonight’s game, as both hitters are hitting well over the last week. Bogaerts is the better play, as Awesemo’s expert projections view him as the second-best hitter in this contest. Over the last five games Bogaerts is hitting .333 with a home run and four RBIs.

Trey Mancini vs. Austin Hays

Mancini has been struggling of late, with a .171 batting average over the last 10 games. Hays, on the other hand, is hitting .289 with two home runs and six RBIs over the same span. Something is clearly not right with Mancini’s plate approach at the moment.

Hunter Renfroe vs. Cedric Mullins

While both players have three home runs over the last 10 games, Mullins is hitting .357 over that span (he also has five stolen bases), while Renfroe is only hitting .237. Mullins even has a little bit of familiarity with Red Sox right-hander Nick Pivetta, going 3-for-8 with a home run against him.
