How to Play at Jock MKT

To begin, enter the NBA Daily Market when the Initial Public Offering (IPO) phase is under way. Leading up until the start of the first game, bid up on players you are interested in acquiring on the open market. Is there a player who you consider a favorite to finish at the top of the rankings? Invest as much or as little as you want in their fantasy performance, with shares beginning at $1 and ranging all the way up to $25. See potential injury news that could open up an opportunity for another player to acquire fantasy points? Make speculative bids for shares of the back-up, hoping for that news to break after the IPO phase is complete.

The next part of the game occurs during live trading. Unlike regular NBA DFS where your plays are locked in, you can buy and sell shares of players while the games are happening based on their production and where you could see them finishing amongst the field. Track as current points, projected points, and live price for each player is updated in real time, allowing you to track the action and invest in an instant to account for news. Trading can be done all the way up until the final buzzer of the night’s final game.

At the end of the games, each player share is paid out based on their final rankings of fantasy points amongst the field. If the shares you own are worth more than what you paid, you win money. It’s as simple as that! For more information, check out the Jock MKT website.

Strategy Session: Late Season Injuries

There are a few key injury situations we need to monitor closely for Thursday night’s Jock MKT slate. First, Joel Embiid (illness) is questionable, and the usage monster’s absence would create many viable targets against the Heat on Thursday night. Tobias Harris sees a team-high 4.2% usage increase with Embiid off the floor this year, and would be a high upside option to consider, but the player I would be most interested in would be Dwight Howard. After burning many DFS players with only 16.75 Jock points in 21.2 minutes Tuesday against the Pacers with Embiid sidelined, most should be hesitant to invest again, keeping his price low. There is absolutely risk with the veteran, but the reward is tremendous if Doc Rivers decides to give Howard more minutes Thursday, which would be a logical move against the physical Heat. In the previous three contests Embiid sat out, Howard was terrific with 35.6 Jock points in 25 minutes per game off the bench.

On the other side of this East matchup, Jimmy Butler is questionable after being poked in the eye during Tuesday’s win over the Celtics. The injury forced him to miss the entire second half of this victory, and if Butler is unable to suit up Thursday, we can look to the trio of Goran Dragic, Kendrick Nunn and Tyler Herro to pick up some extra usage. The latter would be my favorite of the three, but I would be most inclined to pay up for Bam Adebayo if the eye injury keeps Butler sidelined. The center becomes more of a distributor with Butler off the floor, watching his assist rate rise 4.2%, and Adebayo has supplied 42.75 Jock points per game in the past two Butler has been unavailable.

The last and final big name with an uncertain status is Jonas Valanciunas (questionable, back). He missed Tuesday night against the Pelicans, and I would love Jaren Jackson Jr. if the center sits out his second straight contest Thursday. The promising 21-year-old’s minutes keep trending up as the Grizzlies work him back from the meniscus injury, and Jackson Jr. is averaging 29.7 Jock points per game in his past three since joining the starting lineup. Valanciunas’ being off the floor has resulted in a 2.8% usage bump for Jackson Jr., and his ceiling would be well over 40 Jock points against the Kings and their league-worst defense if Valanciunas is inactive again.

Jock MKT NBA Picks Tonight

Chris Paul

With the Jazz losing at home to the Blazers last night, the Suns are now only 1.5 games behind Utah for the No. 1 seed in the West. That same Portland team will now head to Phoenix to meet a hungry Suns’ club Thursday night. With Phoenix perusing that top seed and home court advantage for the postseason, Paul has been a roll, smashing his Jock projections with three consecutive double-doubles, for 41.25 Jock points per game.

The Blazers have improved defensively, ranking 12th in rating over their last 10, but they are still playing they second game in two nights, and Damian Lillard has always been a weak individual throughout his career. Paul should expose him for a very strong stat line, and the point guard’s IPO price shouldn’t be too aggressive considering the overabundance of stars in action tonight.

Michael Porter Jr.

After a small two-game rough patch, Porter Jr. has regained his form as the Nuggets’ second offensive option after Nikola Jokic, scoring 36.7 Jock points per game in his past three starts. Porter Jr. has now beat his Jock projection in seven of his past 10 games, and the forward has garnered a 24.2% usage rate and shot an extremely efficient 57.9% from the field since Jamal Murray went down with the torn ACL.

Thursday night presents a gorgeous matchup for Porter Jr., going against the Timberwolves, who are third to last in defensive rating and sixth in pace this season. The Nuggets still have a slight chance of leap frogging the Clippers for the No. 3 seed, and Porter Jr. has the potential to finish inside the top-10 in fantasy points scored for this slate.

Update: Porter Jr. and Monte Morris have been ruled out tonight for rest purposes. For now, Nikola Jokic has been left on the injury report and should be the primary beneficiary in this plus spot vs the Wolves. When Morris, Porter Jr., Murray, Will Barton (hamstring) and PJ Dozier (groin) have been off the court this season, Jokic has received a team-high 7.9% usage boost. Obviously, the MVP candidate is now one of the best high spends in the IPO tonight, assuming he isn’t rested himself.

Terence Davis

Davis has been a huge spark off the bench for the depleted Kings. With De’Aaron Fox (health and safety protocols) and Harrison Barnes (groin) missing from action, Davis has come alive as Sacramento’s sixth man, generating 35.8 Jock points per game across his last three. The former Raptor has logged at least 30 minutes in all of these tilts, and has posted a strong 25.5% usage rate.

Neither Fox or Barnes are expected to return Thursday night, and Davis should continue to provide value against the Grizzlies.
