NBA Fantasy: DraftKings + FanDuel Projections & High-Upside Plays 5/12

Guess who’s back? It is yet another Russell Westbrook DFS NBA slate today. It should come as no surprise that the NBA fantasy MVP comes out looking great in projections on FanDuel and DraftKings. Until Bradley Beal returns from his injury, Westbrook is going to have to do everything for the Wizards. He rates out very well in the Awesemo NBA DFS Boom vs. Bust Tool even though his price has finally increased.

NBA Fantasy Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Boom Candidates

Russell Westbrook vs. Hawks: $12,400 DraftKings/$12,600 FanDuel

23.9% DraftKings Boom/24% FanDuel Boom

If he’s on the slate, he is worth playing. DraftKings finally priced up Westbrook, but it’s a little too late, and a salary north of $12,000 is still palatable — especially when he’s the No. 1-ranked player in the Awesemo NBA DFS projections by 8 points (63.85). His recent results indicate that Westbrook still deserves a higher price tag. Westbrook has scored at least 74 DraftKings points in five of his last six games and just scored 80.25 DraftKings points in this same exact matchup against the Hawks. The only debate to have with whether or not playing Westbrook will come when Beal returns. If Beal is back in action and Westbrook sees another price increase, then gamers can start to talk about looking for other pay-up options. For now, play him.

Payton Pritchard vs. Cavaliers: $3,100 DraftKings/$3,500 FanDuel

55.9% DraftKings Boom/47.3% FanDuel Boom

The end of the season is not going well for the Celtics. Not only have they fallen into the play-in game and are at slight risk of missing the playoffs, Jaylen Brown is out for the year due to a wrist injury. For today, the Celtics are going to come in especially short-handed. In addition to the injury to Brown, Marcus Smart is out with a calf injury, Robert Williams is out with a toe injury, and Kemba Walker is resting since this is the tail end of a back-to-back. This puts Pritchard in line to play extended minutes with additional usage. He may not start, although he has actually performed better off the bench in this situations than when he starts. Playing off the bench, Pritchard can still get extended run while also acting as the top option for the second unit. To top it all off, he is far and away the top value play in the Awesemo NBA DFS projections.

Andre Drummond vs. Rockets: $6,000 DraftKings/$5,400 FanDuel

14.9% DraftKings Boom/34.3% FanDuel Boom

Drummond real value is negligible, but it’s hard to ignore the situation he could find himself in today. The Lakers have Anthony Davis, LeBron James and Alex Caruso all listed as questionable to play. Even though Drummond wasn’t overly impressive when Davis and James were both out when he first signed with the Lakers, he is considerably cheaper now. With the Lakers, he is still averaging well over a fantasy point per minute, and the only issue is a lack of consistent playing time. After playing 36 minutes last game, it looks like Drummond is starting to build up a bit more trust than he previously had with the Lakers. His viability is dependent on an update on the statuses of James and Davis.

NBA Fantasy Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Bust Candidates

James Harden vs. Spurs: $10,600 DraftKings/$9,200 FanDuel

93.2% DraftKings Bust/64.9% FanDuel Bust

Harden was on track to finish the season in the MVP race the last he was on the court. The problem is that it was over a month ago. Harden returned from a hamstring injury and quickly aggravated the injury, which sent him back to the sidelines. Since the first comeback attempt went poorly, Harden probably will not see a ton of run today. The Nets have championship aspirations, so they will use the final few days of the regular season to make sure everybody is healthy and ready to go for the playoffs. There is no need to push Harden, Kyrie Irving or Kevin Durant to play massive minutes and risk an injury.
