Best NBA Bets Today: Game Tips & Betting Predictions

Jazz vs. Rockets Best Bet

The Utah Jazz face off with the Houston Rockets inside Toyota Center on Wednesday. These two teams are familiar with each other, having faced off three times this season. Utah won two of the first three matchups and come into this one with a record of 38-22. The Rockets are the laughingstock of the league, losing 10 straight and 14 of their last 15. The Jazz and Rockets last faced off on Feb. 14, with Utah beating Houston 135-101.

The Jazz have found their groove, winning eight of their last nine games. Utah is coming off a tough road victory against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday and enters Wednesday with a healthy roster and the rest advantage over the Rockets. The Jazz are averaging 113.8 points on 47.4% shooting and allowing 107 points to opponents. Donovan Mitchell is averaging 25.9 points, while Bojan Bogdanovic is second on the team in scoring (17.7 points per game). Utah ranks first in offensive rating and effective field goal percentage on the year. They can put up points in bunches and will look to beat up on the last-ranked defense in the league.

The Rockets are playing their third game in four nights. Houston is coming off a 113-100 loss on their home court last night against the Clippers. Kevin Porter Jr. is doubtful for Wednesday’s matchup, as he has been forced to miss the last two games with a sprained ankle. Expect Dennis Schroder to get another start in place of Porter. Keep an eye on Garrison Mathews’ status in the second night of a back-to-back. Mathews was questionable heading into yesterday’s game but managed to play 26 minutes with a sprained ankle. Do not be surprised if he rests in tonight’s matchup in the second of the back-to-back. The Rockets have struggled on offense over the last five games, ranking 28th in effective field goal percentage and 29th in offensive rating. They are averaging 103 points on offense in their three games back since All-Star break. The Rockets defensively are 30th in the NBA in points allowed per game with 117.8.

Continue to fade the Rockets, as they are not winning or covering numbers. Houston has an 8-22 record against the spread in their last 30 games. Do not expect things to change tonight with Houston running on tired legs and will most likely be without Porter and potentially Mathews. The Rockets have lost their last five games by an average of 15.4 points. In their three matchups this season the total averages 225.3 points. The total has gone under in seven of the last 10 games head-to-head. Lay the points with the Jazz and take the under on the total in Wednesday’s matchup.

Heat vs. Bucks

The Miami Heat are on the road as they travel to face the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night. Miami is coming off a 112-99 win over the Bulls at home on Monday night. Milwaukee cruised to a 130-106 victory over Charlotte in their previous contest. The Heat lead 2-1 in the series matchup this season. Miami will look to continue their winning ways tonight after winning nine of their last 10 games. The Milwaukee Bucks look to string together back-to-back wins and build some momentum before heading on the road to face the Bulls on Friday.

Miami enters Wednesday with a two-game lead over Chicago for the top spot in Eastern Conference. The Heat are winners of four straight and have a 41-21 record on the year. Miami is averaging 109.5 points on 46.2% shooting and allowing 104.7 points. Six players for Miami are averaging double figures in scoring on the year. Jimmy Butler leads the team with 21.7 points, and Tyler Herro is second with 20.3 points per game. Miami will be without Kyle Lowry on Wednesday, as he will miss a second straight game due to personal reasons. Caleb Martin (Achilles) is listed as questionable. Miami’s defense has been strong this season, ranking sixth in defensive rating. They will be up for a tough test on the road going up against Giannis and the Bucks, who rank sixth in offensive rating on the season.

Milwaukee looks for its second consecutive victory when hosting Miami on Wednesday. The Bucks are 36-25 and tied for second in the Central Division two games behind the Chicago Bulls. Milwaukee is averaging 113.6 points on 46.1% shooting and allowing 110 points per game. Giannis Antetokounmpo is having another MVP-esque season, averaging 29.4 points 9.5 assists and 11.4 rebounds. The Bucks have been horrendous on the defensive end of the floor over their last five games, ranking 27th in the defensive rating. They will catch a break with Lowry out tonight, but Gabe Vincent made a good impression in his first start on Monday filling in for the veteran point guard.

Both teams rank top 10 in effective field goal percentage, free throws made and 3-pointers made per game on the year. The Milwaukee Bucks defense has been shaky as of late, resulting in crazily high totals with an average combined score of 240.8 points over their last five games. The over is 8-1 in Bucks last nine games. Miami is 37-25 over/under on the season. The Bucks will look to push the pace and force turnovers against a Miami team that averages 14.7 per game — fourth most in the league. Ride the trend with the over in tonight’s matchup.
