The PLAYERS Championship presents another loaded field taking on a difficult task in TPC Sawgrass, where we will try to nail DFS picks once again. Last week, all five golfers featured in this space finished inside the top 40, including three in the top 10. However, it is time to move on to the best tournament of the year outside of the Masters.
TPC Sawgrass presents a significant challenge for the stacked field, with thick rough off missed fairways and water hazards in play on 17 holes. It is sure to cause some extreme leaderboard shakeups from round to round.
2023 PLAYERS Championship DFS Picks & Plays
Scottie Scheffler — $10,600
Scottie Scheffler leads the way this week. At a $1,200 discount from Jon Rahm and just 2 projected points separating them in Stokastic’s PGA DFS projections, Scheffler presents great value. He ranks third in good drives gained on the field over the last 50 rounds and 13th in strokes gained around the green. With no player being “safe” on this course, Scheffler checks all the boxes for a comfortable starting lineup.
Jason Day — $8,000
Former PLAYERS champion Jason Day has been in top form, with four straight top-10 finishes. He ranks first in bogey avoidance, 14th in birdie-or-better percentage and third in good drives gained over the last 24 rounds. Pairing his consistent driver with his elite around the green and putting prowess has made Day an absolute force in 2023.

Keegan Bradley — $7,500
Keegan Bradley came through as a core play in last week’s tournament and is another player to keep an eye on. He is a consistent ball striker, ranking 35th in good drives and 39th in strokes gained on approach over the last 50 rounds. After struggling in his early career, Bradley seems to have cracked the code at Sawgrass, making the cut here in each of his last six starts, including three top-16 finishes.
Corey Conners — $7,400
Corey Conners may have struggled on the greens throughout his career, but he more than makes up for it with his consistent ball striking. He ranks 12th in this field in strokes gained on approach and fourth in good drives gained over the last 50 rounds. His elite ball-striking profile at this price point makes him one of the best value plays on the slate.
GPP Flier — Russell Henley — $7,300
Russell Henley is the GPP flier for this week despite a recent stretch of play where he has missed 3 of 6 cuts. He is hitting 71% of his fairways, which ranks second on the entire tour, and over the last 50 rounds he ranks fifth in good drives gained and 13th in strokes gained on approach. As one of the best ball strikers, at his price and low ownership, his upside and course fit are too enticing to pass on this week.
