Brandin Cooks Is A Must-Draft Sleeper: 2021 Fantasy Football Rankings for Yahoo, ESPN & CBS Leagues

Brandin Cooks is one of the most slept-on players in fantasy football in drafts this year, currently falling somewhere in the WR40 range despite being a top-20 wide receiver in all formats last season. So now we must examine why he is experiencing this fall in ADP and if he is worth a draft pick even if the consensus is fading him. We will do this by looking at his 2020 production and projecting where he will finish in the 2021 fantasy football rankings.

Cooks’ Production in 2020

Last year Cooks was a top-20 wide receiver in all formats on what was one of the worst teams in the NFL. He played in 15 games and had 119 targets (18th among receivers) and 81 receptions (19th) for 1,143 yards (10th) and six touchdowns (24th). And he did all of this with an ADP in the seventh round.

Why Is Cooks Being Drafted So Low?

The biggest reason Cooks is being drafted in the late rounds is because of the quarterback position. The uncertainty around Deshaun Watson is impossible to get a handle on, but since he is allowed at training camp, there is a chance that he will play for the Texans in 2021. Behind Watson Houston has Tyrod Taylor, Jeff Driskel and Davis Mills. While none of them can compare to Watson’s skill set, Cooks should still be fine without him.

Cooks’ Outlook in 2021

The hate on Cooks has gone too far. Cooks is the clear No. 1 wide receiver on the Texans. Even with the uncertainty at quarterback, finding the No. 1 target on most teams will cost a pretty penny. But that is not the case with Cooks. Regardless of who is at quarterback, Cooks will still have tons of targets. Chasing volume is the name of the game in fantasy football, and Cooks will be a huge benefactor of that. The other wideouts on the team are Chris Conley, Anthony Miller, Nico Collins, and Keke Coutee. While Collins has hype as a rookie, there is not much competition here for targets. The quarterback situation is of little concern, so take one of the biggest steals in the draft.
