All you have to do to win is pick each player prop correctly for the starting pitchers in tonight’s Phillies – Dodgers series finale. The following discusses the best Monkey Knife Fight MLB picks for this special contest as well as some other intriguing options for Wednesday night’s slate of games.
Monkey Knife Fight MLB Player Prop Picks | June 16
Phillies vs. Dodgers ‘More or Less’ Contest ($15 Pay Out for New Users)
The fact that both Zack Wheeler and Clayton Kershaw have strikeout totals of 7.5 in this Monkey Knife Fight MLB contest speaks to the dominance of both. It took a collective effort by Dodgers pitchers to exceed that strikeout total in each of the first two games of this series. Meanwhile, Phillies pitchers fell short of 7.5 combined strikeouts in both Monday and Tuesday’s games. Wheeler has exceeded the line in a whopping six of his last seven starts. He has recorded double-digit strikeouts in three of his last four outings. While Kershaw only has one double-digit total in his last six outings, he has still managed to clear 7.5 total strikeouts in four of those games. He fanned nine over six innings of work in each of his last two starts.
At first glance, some might be more apt to pick Wheeler to go over the strikeout total tonight. However, it’s worth noting that Phillies batters have combined to strike out 9.69 times per game this season. That is among the five highest averages in the MLB. The Dodgers are a much more patient group and also boast a plethora of hitters with great success against Wheeler in past meetings. There is a real chance Los Angeles manages to chase the Phillies’ flamethrower early before he can exceed the strikeout total. While Kershaw isn’t the same power pitcher he once was, he has settled into a nice groove of late. After reading between the lines, he appears to be the pitcher more likely to go over 7.5 strikeouts tonight.
Red Sox vs. Braves ‘Hit Parade’ Contest (2x Buy-In)
When picking three players to exceed the 3.5 total hits in tonight’s matchup between the Braves and Red Sox, there are certainly plenty to choose from. Ronald Acuna is right in the thick of the midseason NL MVP talks. He has six total hits in his last four games and three multi-hit outings in his last seven. At least one of these choices will need multiple knocks to win this MLB picks contest, and Acuna has the potential to deliver.
Each of the other picks is made with consistency being a priority. While Atlanta star Freddie Freeman hasn’t quite been hitting up to his MVP standards from a year ago, he has been on a nice little run of late. Freeman carries a five-game hitting streak into tonight’s showdown and has amassed eight total hits over those five most recent games. Meanwhile, after having his own hitting streak snapped on Monday, Xander Bogaerts began a new one yesterday with a home run. A .319 batting average on the season represents the consistency Bogaerts has displayed at the plate. This star-studded trio has as good a shot as any to combine for over 3.5 hits tonight.
Rangers vs. Astros ‘More or Less’ Contest (3x Buy-In)
Both Michael Brantley and Isiah Kiner-Falefa have been red hot at the plate recently. After a massive four-hit, four-RBI, two-run game on Monday, Brantley was once again doing damage for the Astros last night. He roped a pair of hits and scored a run as well. Rangers pitching has done little to inspire much confidence this season, especially against a bat as hot as Brantley’s. His average is now .340 for the season. He has also tagged Texas starter Jordan Lyles for three hits in prior head-to-head meetings. Look to play over for Brantley in tonight’s Monkey Knife Fight MLB contest.
Meanwhile, Kiner-Falefa had an extended hitting streak snapped yesterday. He still reached base with a walk and scored a run, but it’s tough to say he will be able to reach base more than once tonight. While he has gotten the best of Astros starter Zack Greinke in the past (four hits in six prior at-bats), that most likely won’t continue over the long haul. After getting roughed up in his last start, Greinke figures to be pitching with an extra gear tonight. The pick is to go under 1.5 total hits and walks for Kiner-Falefa to round out this all-Texas Monkey Knife Fight pick.
