Monkey Knife Fight MLB DFS Picks for Sunday Night Baseball | Chicago White Sox at Chicago Cubs 8/8

ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball heads to the Windy City for an interleague matchup between the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Cubs. The two teams are heading in opposite directions, but the series has still been a battle, nonetheless. Let’s dive into the top Monkey Knife Fight MLB DFS plays and MLB picks tonight on Aug. 8.

Tonight’s Top Monkey Knife Fight MLB Picks

Monkey Knife Fight has a ton of profitable contests for the public, and here we will break down the two best areas from which to make MLB picks.

More or Less — Pick 2 | Prize: 3x

Dylan Cease vs. Zach Davies

Cease is coming off his most impressive outing of the season, striking out 11 over six innings while allowing only one hit and two walks. In the first two games of this series fellow White Sox pitchers Lance Lynn (eight) and Carlos Rodon (11) both exceeded the 7.5-strikeout total. This trend should continue once again considering Cease is usually hovering right around that mark against American League teams. Now that he is facing the pitcher twice in the batting order, that should be enough to elevate him over 7.5 strikeouts.

Davies had been cruising in his previous two starts, with eight strikeouts in each of them, before making the trip to Coors Field in Colorado. That start did not go as planned, as he allowed seven runs over four innings while only striking out one. Both Cubs’ starters in this series, Kyle Hendricks (seven) and Adbert Alzolay (seven), have exceeded the simple 3.5-strikeout line that Davies has tonight. Each of the last six starting pitchers to face the White Sox has struck out at least six batters.

RapidFire — Pick 2 | Prize: 3x

Jose Abreu vs. Willson Contreras

Abreu is the top-ranked hitter in Awesemo’s expert projections for tonight’s showdown. Abreu has never faced Davies, but he might like what he sees once he gets in the batter’s box. Davies allows a batting average 40 points higher to right-handed batters than he does to lefties, and he has been one of the easiest pitchers to hit in all of baseball.

Contreras, on the other hand, will have to deal with Cease and his nasty arsenal of pitches. After getting the day off to start the series, Contreras went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts. That is certainly not the form for a one-on-one contest. Abreu is the better choice of the two considering he homered in his final at-bat yesterday.

Eloy Jimenez vs. Zack Collins/Seby Zavala

Jimenez is not too far behind Abreu in the Awesemo expert projections, and his home-run prowess is appealing in these A-or-B situations. Jimenez just made his way back to the lineup two weeks ago after an injury derailed the beginning of his season. Now he is finally starting to come around, hitting doubles in each of his last three games. With Davies on the mound for the Cubs, there should be plenty of RBI opportunities.

It is unclear who will get the start behind the plate tonight for the White Sox — it could be Collins or Zavala. In either case, that player will not be enough to overcome Jimenez’s production. Zavala did go 2-for-4 with an RBI on Friday, while Collins went 0-for-4 yesterday with two strikeouts.
