MMA DFS Picks: UFC 260 Miocic vs. Ngannou 2

Alonzo Menifield ($8,100) vs. Fabio Cherant ($7,000)

Alonzo Menifield

  • Age: 33
  • Height: 6-foot-0
  • Weight: 205 lbs.
  • Reach: 76 ins.
  • Record: 9-2-0
  • Striking Accuracy: 47%
  • Betting Odds: -275

Menifield is coming into this matchup off of back-to-back losses, and one of those was a knockout loss against Ovince Saint Preux in September 2020. He has huge power in his hands that can put his opponents lights out. Menifield has eight wins via knockout and one via submission. He will be focused and motivated after his current losing streak. Menifield could land a power shot as Cherant comes forward pushing the pace, but he will need to avoid Cherant’s heavy ground attack early.

Fabio Cherant

  • Age: 26
  • Height: 6-foot-1
  • Weight: 205 lbs.
  • Reach: N/A
  • Record: 9-2-0
  • Striking Accuracy: 31%
  • Betting Odds: +225

Cherant is taking this fight on short notice and is currently riding a three-fight winning streak. He has five wins via submission and two via decision. As an amateur he fought for the promotion Cage Titans out of Massachusetts. Cherant will look to get this fight to the mat early. However, Cherant could let this fight play out on the feet, which could be a huge mistake due to Menifield’s power.

My preferred play on DraftKings and FanDuel is Menifield. Menifield will need to avoid the early ground attack of Cherant, he could land power shots early and test the chin of Cherant.

UFC DFS Pick: Alonzo Menifield via Second-Round KO/TKO.

Sean O’Malley ($9,400) vs. Thomas Aleida ($7,000)

Sean O’Malley

  • Age: 26
  • Height: 5-foot-9
  • Weight: 135 lbs.
  • Reach: 72 ins
  • Record: 12-1-0
  • Striking Accuracy: 50%
  • Betting Odds: -300

O’Malley is coming into this matchup off of a disappointing knockout loss to Marlon Vera at UFC 252 in May 2020. He has a solid kickboxing game and flows between stances extremely well. O’Malley can be difficult to hit due to his excellent movement. However, he showed against Vera that his weakness is getting continuously hit with leg and calf kicks. With that in mind, O’Malley will need to avoid and protect his legs against Aleida’s nasty leg kicks and body shots. If Aleida can land heavy kicks, it will not take many to do serious damage. O’Malley is excellent at timing his dangerous right hand, and he should be motivated to put on a show after the first loss in his career.

Thomas Aleida

  • Age: 29
  • Height: 5-foot-6
  • Weight: 145 lbs.
  • Reach: 70 ins
  • Record: 22-4-0
  • Striking Accuracy: 44%
  • Betting Odds: +250

Aleida is a dangerous striker that throws nasty body kicks and heavy leg kicks, and he is a black belt in Muay Thai. This fight could put Aleida back as a contender if he can pull off the win. However, he will have a tough road dealing with a motivated O’Malley, who will be looking to get back into the win column in spectacular fashion. That said, Aleida will be looking to get back on track after his recent skid, as he has gone 1-4 in his last five outings. Aleida will look to bring a heavy kicking attack with nasty leg and body kicks while trying to interrupt O’Malley’s timing and rhythm.

My preferred on DraftKings and FanDuel is O’Malley. O’Malley should control things and pick Aleida apart with his timing and powerful, heavy right hand.

UFC DFS Pick: Sean O’Malley via First-Round KO/TKO.

Tyron Woodley ($7,100) vs. Vicente Luque ($9,100)

Tyron Woodley

  • Age: 38
  • Height: 5-foot-8
  • Weight: 170 lbs.
  • Reach: 74 ins.
  • Record: 19-6-1
  • Striking Accuracy: 32%
  • Betting Odds: +250

Woodley is patient against the fence, always waiting for his opponents to over-commit. This is not what one would expect from an explosive wrestler of Woodley’s caliber. Still, Woodley will bring a heavy ground game in hopes of slowing down the high output of Luque. Woodley’s right hand is dangerous and can put anyone’s lights out when landed. He will change levels, looking to land his counter right hand or occasionally throwing powerful body kicks. One big concern is Woodley’s cardio, which seems to be on the decline. He will try to interrupt Luque rhythm with his wrestling while looking to catch Luque with his powerful counter right. Otherwise, Luque will be better and more polished striker.

Vicente Luque

  • Age: 29
  • Height: 5-foot-9
  • Weight: 170 lbs.
  • Reach: 75.5 ins.
  • Record: 19-7-1
  • Striking Accuracy: 53%
  • Betting Odds: -200

Luque is coming into this matchup as the No. 10 ranked welterweight and is fresh off a second-round knockout over Randy Brown in August 2020. He is a technical and violent boxer who will stand and trade. Luque has been on fire, with 11 of his last 12 wins coming via stoppage. He should be the more active and superior striker in this bout. While Woodley will look to slow this fight down by using his wrestling and takedown attempts, Luque’s volume and pure boxing skills will likely seal a unanimous decision victory, or even a late knockout.

My preferred play on DraftKings and FanDuel is Luque. Even though Woodley is a dangerous striker, if Luque finds his timing and rhythm, Woodley could find himself being picked apart on the feet.

UFC DFS Pick: Vicente Luque via Third-Round TKO/KO.

Stipe Miocic ($7,800) vs. Francis Ngannou ($8,400)

Stipe Miocic

  • Age: 38
  • Height: 6-foot-3
  • Weight: 240 lbs.
  • Reach: 80 ins.
  • Record: 20-3-0
  • Striking Accuracy: 52%
  • Betting Odds: +105

Miocic is the current heavyweight champion and has a UFC-record four heavyweight title defenses. He is a pressure striker and will push the pace by stalking his opponents. Miocic is extremely good at exploiting flaws of his opponents, which he did successfully in in his first bout with Ngannou. Miocic uses his jab effectively and makes reads and counters in exchanges. He is one of the best counterpunchers in the heavyweight division. Miocic will look to use a heavy wresting attack against Ngannou again. However, Ngannou will be more experienced and more aware of Miocic’s gameplan this time.

Francis Ngannou

  • Age: 34
  • Height: 6-foot-3
  • Weight: 250 lbs.
  • Reach: 83 ins.
  • Record:15-3-0
  • Striking Accuracy: 37%
  • Betting Odds: -105

Ngannou is a big, scary heavyweight, and he will be looking for revenge in this second meeting. He possesses possibly the most power in the division and will walk his opponents down, being patient in picking his strikes. Ngannou has been on a tear of late, winning his last four fights via knockouts, including stoppages over Curtis Blades, Cain Velasquez, Junior dos Santos and Jairzinho Rozenstruik. He is an extremely poor grappler, although he has made solid improvements in his ground game. Ngannou will look to keep this fight standing while looking to test the chin of Miocic early and often. Ngannou has the power to end this fight with one shot.

My lean on DraftKings and FanDuel is Miocic. That said, we may see a completely different and more polished fighter in Ngannou than what we saw in their first match. However, Miocic should have a big advantage the later the fight goes. Look for Miocic to possibly finish Ngannou with ground-and-pound in the later rounds.

UFC DFS Pick: Stipe Miocic via Fourth-Round KO/TKO.
