NBA Daily Fantasy Picks: Awesemo Grades | March 23

Point Guard: Jordan Poole

DraftKings Grades: B, Values: B

FanDuel Grades: B, Values: C

As the interim starting point guard in place of the injured Stephen Curry (out, tailbone), Poole has been outstanding, scoring 38 DraftKings points per game behind a team-high 36.1 minutes per game. Spending most of his time in the G-League this season did wonders for Poole’s development. Ever since being called up from the Santa Cruz Warriors nearly a month ago, Poole has supplied an efficient 1.17 DraftKings points per minute while shooting 50% from the field and 44% from beyond the arc.

Curry will miss his third in a row tonight, and while this matchup against Ben Simmons and the 76ers is ugly (second in defensive efficiency), Poole’s role is so large right now that he remains a top value at only $5,600 on DraftKings. FanDuel was more aggressive, bringing the guard’s salary up to $6,500, but with the price increase comes lower ownership, making him a terrific choice in GPPs.

Projected NBA DFS ownership projection: DraftKings 36.7%, FanDuel 18.0%

Small Forward: Kyle Kuzma

DraftKings Grades: B, Values: C

FanDuel Grades: B, Values: B

DraftKings and FanDuel have elevated Kuzma’s price tags to levels that should hopefully keep his ownership in check on both sites for this optimal situation against the Pelicans. With Anthony Davis (calf) and LeBron James (ankle) both sidelined Sunday, Kuzma led the Lakers with 36.2 minutes against the Suns. He finished with a solid 32 DraftKings points, but he was even better the first time Davis and James missed a game together this season, posting 49.75 DraftKings points against the Kings on March 3. This is the type of ceiling Kuzma brings with the pair of superstars absent, and Tuesday night’s matchup is a plus spot against the Pelicans, who are currently 28th in defensive efficiency. North of 40 fantasy points is certainly achievable tonight, and Kuzma needs to be included in your player pool for this six-game slate.

Projected NBA DFS ownership projection: DraftKings 18.7%, FanDuel 25.3%

Center: Nicolas Claxton

DraftKings Grades: C, Values: A

FanDuel Grades: C, Values: A

Even with Blake Griffin making his Nets debut Sunday, Claxton still handled a very healthy role. In fact, the 26 minutes he played against the Wizards set a new season high, and it appears that Claxton may have surpassed DeAndre Jordan on the Brooklyn depth chart. In their last three, which were all close contests, Claxton averaged 23.8 minutes per game, compared to only 20.3 for Jordan. Furthermore, Claxton has been a part of the Nets’ closing lineup, receiving 10.2 fourth quarter minutes per game, while Jordan hasn’t left the bench. Claxton was a huge factor in putting the final touches on Sunday’s win over Washington, including 8 points and 2 rebounds in the fourth quarter alone, and he generated 24.1 DraftKings points per game across his past three.

Given Claxton’s recent contributions, his playing time should continue to be above 20 minutes tonight, especially with Kyrie Irving (personal) and Landry Shamet (ankle) ruled out and James Harden (neck) questionable. Claxton’s salaries have yet to fully adjust to his new role, and he is a great punt play against a Portland defense ranks dead last in rating since the All-Star Break.

Projected NBA DFS ownership projection: DraftKings 21.7%, FanDuel 13.5%

Shooting Guard: Will Barton

DraftKings Grades: C, Values: C

FanDuel Grades: C, Values: C

Barton has been a very reliable value with Monte Morris (quad) and Gary Harris (thigh) missing from action. Neither guard has been able to suit for the Nuggets’ last five, and Barton has filled in admirably, providing 34.6 DraftKings points per game. Over this span he has led Denver with 37 minutes per game, and he will maintain this role with Harris and Morris already confirmed out ahead of Tuesday’s tilt against the Magic.

Orlando is 20th in defensive efficiency and is giving up the third-most DraftKings points per game to opposing shooting guards this season. Barton should provide over 5x value in this spot and shouldn’t be a name many people click on, with most DFS players opting for star-and-scrubs builds tonight.

Projected NBA DFS ownership projection: DraftKings 9.5%, FanDuel 8.0%
