January 30 NBA DFS Pick: Nikola Jokic
Now, Awesemo sets his sights on today’s NBA slate, with some seriously good matchups on several daily fantasy sites.
NBA DFS Pick: Nikola Jokic ($10,100 DraftKings, $10,200 FanDuel) Grades: A, A; Values: B, A
Do-it-all center Nikola Jokic is one of the top-value studs on tonight’s slate despite surpassing $10,000 on both FanDuel and DraftKings. Jokic has fully regained his 2018-19 form, recording at least 20 and 10 in five of his last seven and two triple-doubles in his last four. His scoring, rebound and assist averages are now close to what they were last season after a relatively slow start. As far as centers go, few in the league provide more bonus upside, given his ability to pass at a high rate, on top of his consistent 20-and-10s. In fact, Jokic leads Denver in assists and assist percentage by a comfortable margin, and every NBA player with a higher assist percentage than Jokic is either a guard or LeBron James.

On paper, tonight’s matchup with Utah does not look great for Jokic. The Jazz play at a middling pace and have one of the 10 best defensive ratings in the game. On top of that, Jokic will mostly square off with Rudy Gobert, probably the best defensive player in the league. And it is true that in their last few matchups, Gobert has held Jokic down. That said, Jokic is still averaging close to a double-double in his career against Gobert and recorded a 28 and 21 a year ago. In other words, while Gobert makes Jokic a slightly worse NBA DFS producer, Jokic has shown he can get his against the league’s top rim protector. At his high price, he is a bit of a risk, but Jokic is rolling and almost always brings NBA DFS value with his price tag.
