Yahoo Fantasy Basketball Picks Today: Free NBA DFS Rankings 2/14/22

The NBA landscape comes in hot for Valentine’s Day with a nine-game slate. There will be plenty to watch as players from the trade deadline are still adjusting to their new teams and rotations and player usages are being figured out. Some bigger injury news for the day includes the Bulls Zach Lavine being ruled out. Lavine not playing obviously ups the projections and potential usage for DeMar DeRozan, who ranks out top in the Awesemo NBA DFS Projections at power forward. Giannis Antetokounmpo is also listed as a game-time decision (hip), but seems likely to play.

This column will use the Awesemo NBA DFS Projections, daily fantasy basketball rankings and NBA DFS tools to build lineups and help wade through the days’ data and news. Make sure to read to the end for a couple of extreme value plays for Yahoo fantasy basketball lineups today.

Yahoo Fantasy Basketball & NBA DFS Value Picks Today

Guard — De’Aaron Fox $32

The Kings’ De’Aaron Fox has gone for over 44.0 Yahoo points in four of his last six games and rates out well today in the Awesemo point projections. While he trails the top two players at his position, Fox ranks out a solid third in the projections and has the best value score of anyone over $30 today at point guard. The usage for Fox is almost certain to continue without Tyrese Haliburton around and with Fox’s salary still depressed and not factoring in either his recent production or the better usage, there is no reason to fade him today against a thin Nets front-court. Brooklyn has allowed the 19th-most points against this year. A fast-paced game seems likely between these two mediocre defensive teams today.

Guard — Cade Cunningham $29

The Pistons’ Cade Cunningham posted a poor outing in his return from injury over the weekend, landing just 12 points and 24.0 Yahoo points in 21 minutes of play. The rookie has still proven that he is someone to back for a quick bounce-back off a slow game or two, as his upside is up with the best at his position for fantasy. In his last 12-starts, Cunningham has posted four games with 49.0 Yahoo points or more and gets a solid matchup today against a Washington team who has serious depth issues at guard and ranks 28th in defensive efficiency over their last three games. Cunningham is ranked fourth in projections at shooting guard on Awesemo and makes for a good upside play in big GPPs.

Forward — Julius Randle $35

Knicks forward Julius Randle continues to be available at very palatable prices and ranks out with the best value score of anyone above $30 on Yahoo today in the Awesemo Model. Randle has gone over 50.0 Yahoo points in three straight games and also posted 45.0 or more Yahoo points in six straight starts. The Thunder have injury issues at center and power forward with Luguentz Dort out for this game and they rank dead last in the NBA in rebounds allowed this season. A double-double (at worst) seems likely for today Randle, who gives an elite upside at a very palatable price tag to build around.

Forward — Marcus Morris Sr. $19

It is important to pay up for a couple of bigger names at guard and center today, so looking for some value at a deep position like forward is not a terrible idea. Marcus Morris has now played over 30 minutes in each of his last two games for the Clippers and likely should get all the minutes he can handle again with the Warriors in town. Morris’s usage has gone up of late and he is bound to bounce back in other categories today, as he has strangely grabbed just one rebound over his last two games. Trust the projections on Awesemo a bit more with this one, as Morris has a top-six projection today and a value score that is higher than anyone above $15. If the hot shooting continues, Morris certainly has a shot at outproducing his very easy-to-fit-in price tag.

Center — Nikola Jokic $56

The projections today have two clear top plays at the top with both Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic as the only two players topping the 50.0 point mark. While the matchups for both players are a plus, it is Jokic who grades out as the clear-cut number one on Awesemo. He is a full 5.0 points higher than Giannis and facing a Magic team who get destroyed on the regular by big men. Some great value options have already been outlined at the other positions that will let you fit Jokic in today if need be, and there is little reason not to be hyper bullish on this spot, as the Magic are sixth-last in rebounds allowed and just 18th in opposing FG percentage allowed as well. Pay up and look to the value section for help getting Jokic in.

Yahoo NBA DFS Value Play — Seth Curry $17

One player who could make an impact in his first game with a new team is Seth Curry. Curry is sliding into a situation in Brooklyn which will have tons of opportunity in the short term for the former 76er, as Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant are both projected as out today. As Matt Lamarca has noted in his NBA Slate Starter article for today, Curry is a potential top-tier value waiting to fly in his new digs.

Yahoo NBA DFS Value Play — Alperen Sengun $11

For a more extreme value, target Alperen Sengun for a flex option today. The Rockets forward is getting more opportunity as the season progresses and rates out as a top-five pure value option again in the Awesemo NBA Projections. He has produced 22.0 or more Yahoo points in five of his last six starts and has proven he can rack up points quickly, even if he does come off the bench. A very possible Jazz blowout win could see him grab more minutes and usage in this game down the stretch, too.
