Yahoo Fantasy Basketball Picks & NBA DFS Value Plays Today | 2/17/22

The fantasy basketball slate today has five-games on it and is the last regular season action before the week-long all-star break. Despite the small NBA slate there is still a ton of injury news to keep up with, making this just a regular day on the NBA DFS streets. Jimmy Butler is one of the bigger names with a questionable tag but Christian Wood and Kevin Porter Jr. are also both listed as questionable for the Rockets, who could potentially have a very short bench today. The Clippers remain without the likes of Paul George and Norm Powell making their rotation smaller and a good source of value in NBA Daily Fantasy as well. With lots of news potentially dropping later, make sure to keep checking the updates on the Awesemo Projections as the day progresses, and keep your ear to the ground before making your NBA picks today.

This column will use the Awesemo NBA DFS Projections, daily fantasy basketball rankings and NBA DFS tools to build lineups and help wade through the day’s data and news. Make sure to read to the end for a couple of extreme value plays for Yahoo fantasy basketball lineups today.

Yahoo Fantasy Basketball & NBA DFS Value Picks Today

Guard — Luka Doncic $55

For a five-game slate, there are a bunch of studs to choose from so you will want to be precise when deciding who to pay up for. Luka Doncic‘s semi-predictably came back down to earth against the Heat in his last outing, going for 42.0 Yahoo points against a good defensive team in Miami. The match-up certainly improves today though as Doncic takes on a Pelicans team who rates just 15th in points allowed and 14th in assists allowed as well. It is quite tight between the top-three ranked players in the NBA projections today, with just three points separating the top three options. There is a massive gap between Doncic and the next best Point Guard though and with fewer values there to rely on, money is likely best spent on Doncic at that position, who rested yesterday and has seen 38+ minutes in three straight games now. Pay up at Point Guard and expect a massive bounce-back game.

Guard — Seth Curry $19

To counteract some big spending at the Point, take some cheap value at Shooting Guard. The Brooklyn Nets remain quite short-handed while waiting for Kyrie Irving, Ben Simmons and Kevin Durant to return but did add a small piece in Seth Curry at the deadline. Curry has not been spectacular but he has played well over 30-minutes in his first two games as a Net and produced over 20-real life points in that span as well. Curry has also chipped in 5+ assists in those two games as well, which shows showcases how good his usage has been in these recent games. If he gets hot from three, a big game could be waiting and he rates out strongly as a top-five option in the Awesemo Projections at Shooting Guard today, despite being available for under $20 on Yahoo.

Forward — Kyle Kuzma $35

Forward today looks like a hard position to figure as there is no real clear-cut value to pivot to under Giannis Antetokounmpo. With no one standing out, taking the now ultra-reliable Kyle Kuzma today makes a ton of sense. Kuzma has turned into a multi-category beast for fantasy purposes this year and has grabbed over 20-real life points in his last two games. A matchup with Brooklyn looks great at the moment considering they are short-handed and rate out as a below-average team in points and rebounds allowed. Kuzma should approach double-double or better status today and rates out as the best non-Antetokounmpo option in the point projections.

Kuzma was showing up well in our NBA projections today and is popping as one of the best Yahoo Fantasy Basketball plays on the entire DFS slate. Check out who else is one of the best NBA picks today in the Yahoo NBA DFS Cheat Sheet.

Forward — Marcus Morris Sr. $19

The Clippers get the gift that keeps on giving, aka the Houston Rockets. Multiple Clippers can be targeted in this spot, as they remain without the likes of Powell and have been riding players like Marcus Morris more heavily of late. Morris has not produced a ton in the rebounding department lately but he has averaged over 30 minutes and over 16 real-life points in his last three games now. There is no reason to think that Morris will not get a good run again and his usage as a shooter has remained steady over his last three starts. He rates out as a strong value and likely gets the vote as the most reliable Clipper value to target from a points-per-output standpoint.

Latest NBA DFS Content

Center — Bam Adebayo $35

The Heat are in a great match-up against Charlotte today, who remain the fantasy pinnacle of match-ups considering the fast pace they play and the fact that they rank bottom-five in pretty much every defensive efficiency metric. Bam Adebayo has been great for fantasy purposes of late, averaging over 35-minutes in his last three games while seeing better usage with the likes of Tyler Herro out. Herro is already out today and Butler also remains questionable, so there is no reason why Adebayo should see his minutes cut at all. The spread is also close at -5.5/+5.5 and Adebayo rates out with the second-best point projection at Centre and with a better value score than top overall play Joel Embiid. Pay down for the Heat big guy and spread the wealth at other positions.

Yahoo NBA DFS Value Play — Ish Smith $10

The Wizards have used Ish Smith off the bench in each of his first two starts with the club, but that rotation could change any night, especially with just Raul Neto in front of Smith at the Point Guard position. Smith has played right around 20 minutes in his first two games and produced exactly 1.0 Yahoo fantasy points, per minute, so any additional playing time would see him become a massive value at these prices. The matchup against short-handed Brooklyn is solid and Smith rates out as a top-five value play in the Awesemo NBA Projections, making him a solid punt target for today on Yahoo.

Yahoo NBA DFS Value Play — Alperen Sengun $11

The Rockets Alperen Sengun has been a favorite of this Yahoo NBA DFS value section over the last couple of weeks. He produced over 48.0 Yahoo points in his last outing when both Wood and Porter had to sit out and both those players are highly questionable for the Rockets again today. Even if Wood does play, Sengun has been a very efficient fantasy producer of late and has averaged well over 1.0 Yahoo points per minute played over his last five games. He rates out with the second-best value score at Centre today and would still be a good GPP punt target even if his teammates do end up returning.
