High-Upside NBA Daily Fantasy Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel Lineups Tonight | 3/14/22

Monday presents a nine-game NBA slate for DFS players to attack. As always, be sure to be watching the Awesemo NBA Starting Lineups page closely for updates on each team before making NBA picks today. The name to watch closely is Fred VanVleet (questionable, knee). Awesemo is projecting the guard as in tonight vs. the Lakers and has him rating extremely high in this up-tempo spot. Los Angeles ranks second in pace this season and they will be playing their second game in two nights. The Raptors’ implied team total is set at a high 115 points and this tilt’s total is up to 226 points. VanVleet has exceeded 40 DraftKings in 10 of the 15 starts he has played behind an implied team total of at least 110 points this season, and let’s not forget, O.G. Anunoby (finger) is still on the shelf. When the forward has been off the floor this season, VanVleet’s usage has risen two percentage points to 26.5%. The guard boasts a top-10 Boom score on the slate for both DraftKings and FanDuel in Awesemo’s Boom Bust Tool, and will be one of the better tournament targets of the night if available. Below are some NBA daily fantasy basketball picks that stand out for tonight’s slate using Awesemo’s Boom/Bust Tool and NBA DFS projections.

Boom: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: $10,400 DraftKings/$10,000 FanDuel

29% DraftKings Boom/26% FanDuel Boom

In these past eight contests with both Josh Giddey (hip) and Lu Dort (shoulder) sidelined, Gilgeous-Alexander has flashed massive upside, scoring at least 59 DraftKings points on five occasions. Both Giddey and Dort will remain unavailable Monday and in the 457 minutes Gilgeous-Alexander has played with these two starters off the court this season, his usage has increased 5.4 percentage points to a huge 35.7% and his assist rate has seen a significant 7.3 percentage point upgrade to a team-high 36.4%.

Gilgeous-Alexander has been a fantasy stud with the workload, scoring 1.6 DraftKings points per minute and Monday presents a terrific spot for the guard, hosting the Hornets. Not only does Charlotte lead the league in pace, but they also rank 23rd in defensive efficiency. This tilt’s total is the fourth-highest on the slate at 231 points and Gilgeous-Alexander’s ceiling is well above 60 fantasy points in this setting.

Boom: Luke Kennard: $4,400 DraftKings/$4,200 FanDuel

35% DraftKings Boom/28% FanDuel Boom

Tonight, the Clippers will be without Reggie Jackson (rest), Marcus Morris (rest), Paul George (elbow), Norman Powell (toe) and Robert Covington (personal), leaving them with only nine available players. By default, Kennard should start and handle a huge workload in this situation. With those five players off the floor this season, Kennard has garnered a 20% usage rate and provided 0.94 DraftKings points per minute, in a sample size of 409 minutes.

Anything less than 30 minutes would be a surprise for the wing tonight. For the 20 times he has played at least 30 minutes this season, Kennard has responded with 25 DraftKings points per game. He will be facing a stout Cavaliers’ defense that ranks fourth in efficiency, but Kennard’s expected volume outweighs any concerns about this matchup. He should effortlessly surpass five-times value tonight and is rating as a top-10 value on the slate for both DraftKings and FanDuel in Awesemo’s NBA DFS player projections.

Boom: Drew Eubanks: $5,600 DraftKings/$4,300 FanDuel

36% DraftKings Boom/59% FanDuel Boom

Making his seventh consecutive start for the injured Jusuf Nurkic (foot), Eubanks was finally set free Saturday against the Wizards, playing a season-high 39 minutes en route to a huge double-double worth 42 DraftKings points. With Eubanks playing such a large role, the Trail Blazers won this contest, snapping a seven-game losing streak. Plus, after this performance, he inked his third 10-day contract with Portland on Sunday. With Nurkic still unavailable, all signs are pointing to Eubanks seeing another large workload tonight vs. the Hawks, who rank 27th in defensive efficiency.

This matchup’s total is the fifth-highest on the board at 229.5 points and Awesemo is projecting Eubanks for 29.9 minutes of work. The big man is supplying one DraftKings point per minute this season and 30 DraftKings points per game for the five times he has surpassed the 25-minute mark for his career. At only $4,300 on FanDuel, Eubanks is rating as the No.1 value on the slate in Awesemo’s NBA Player projections and is extremely tough to ignore, considering he can be rostered as either a power forward or center. DraftKings increased Eubanks’ salary to a more appropriate level after his outburst on Saturday, but he still has a chance to outproduce this price tag against this soft Hawks’ defense and is expected to come with little ownership, according to Awesemo’s NBA DFS projections.

Boom: Trae Young: $10,300 DraftKings/$9,800 FanDuel

40% DraftKings Boom/31% FanDuel Boom

With some late news opening a plethora of cheap value plays, rostering two studs is easy tonight and Young is without a doubt one of the best options. John Collins (finger/foot) will miss the second straight tilt and with the forward absent last night, Young erupted for 63.75 DraftKings points in a win over the Pacers. Including this outing, the point guard is now averaging 55.2 DraftKings points per game in the 12 starts he has made without Collins this season.

In the 790 minutes Young has played with Collins off the court this season, the guard’s usage rises to 36% and he contributes 1.5 DraftKings points per minute. This Blazers’ defense Young is facing tonight ranks second to last in efficiency and the Hawks carry the second-largest implied team total on the slate at 121.5 points in this beautiful matchup. Young brings a top-five ceiling of the night in Awesemo’s NBA Boom Bust Tool and is an outstanding pay-up option for all formats.
