February 25 NBA DFS Pick: Anthony Davis
Now, Awesemo sets his sights on today’s NBA slate, with some seriously good matchups on several daily fantasy sites.
NBA DFS Pick: Anthony Davis ($10,300 DraftKings, $10,600 FanDuel) Grades: A, A; Values: B, B
This evening’s slate is a rarity; not a single player is getting A’s from Awesemo for both points and value on either DraftKings and FanDuel. Three players are projecting for over 50 fantasy points, but all three are priced above $10,000, so there is considerable risk with rostering them. That said, the two Lakers, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, look awfully appealing given their slate-high 123.5 implied total and the excellent matchup with the Pelicans. Since Zion Williamson entered the fold for New Orleans, they have been the second-fastest-paced team in the NBA behind only Milwaukee. They have also allowed the second-most points in the paint over that time frame, partially due to Williamson’s defensive struggles.
Davis and James may split usage in this high-total game, but both have such lofty production standards that they still rank extremely highly in Awesemo’s projections. However, for this pick, we are focusing on Davis matching up against his former team. In the month of February, Davis is averaging nearly 27 and 10 while adding 3.8 blocks/steals. With so much pace expected in this game, Davis will have a chance to stuff the box score on both ends of the floor. He has already played New Orleans twice this year, recording 43.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks/steals per game. And neither game shifted those averages on its own, Davis was simply that dominant both times. He clearly gets up for this matchup, and that makes him a prime NBA DFS stud tonight.
