2023 RBC Heritage DFS Picks & Core Plays: Can Streaky Russell Henley Have Another Great Week?

After a relatively uneventful Masters, the PGA Tour heads to the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town, where the tight layout and small greens make for a challenging test. Harbour Town has been a mainstay on the PGA Tour for years, which means there is a lot of course history data to draw from. In general, the plan will be to find golfers who have excellent approach and around-the-green play this week, as driving distance is heavily mitigated given the layout. Now let’s break down RBC Heritage DFS picks.

Top DFS Picks for 2023 RBC Heritage

Scottie Scheffler — $11,000

Despite a somewhat lackluster showing at the Masters last week, Scheffler still managed to finish in the top 10. He is one of the best players on approach and around the green, which sets him up nicely for another top finish this week. Over the last 36 rounds, he ranks second in strokes gained on approach and 17th in strokes gained around the green while also ranking top 6 in both birdie-or-better percentage and bogey avoidance. Although he has yet to play at Harbour Town, he ranks seventh in strokes gained on Pete Dye courses, which should bode well for his performance. Scheffler is an excellent play at the top.

Sungjae Im — $8,600

Im has been in excellent form to start 2023, with eight straight made cuts and six top-21 finishes, including a 16th-place finish at the Masters last week and a sixth at THE PLAYERS in March. He possesses all the qualities necessary to tackle Harbour Town, with his accuracy off the tee, excellent around-the-green play and solid approach game. While he may not be elite in any of the four major strokes gained categories, he is consistently solid across the board. At a shorter course that favors accuracy over distance, Im’s game should set up nicely for a strong performance. He is an attractive mid-range option.

Russell Henley — $7,800

Henley is coming off his best career finish at the Masters last week and looks to be in good form heading into the RBC Heritage. Over the last 36 rounds, he ranks first in fairways gained and third in good drives gained in this field, which bodes well for his performance on the tight fairways of Harbour Town. Although his putting has been a struggle this season, Henley has shown improvement in his last three outings and ranks 21st in strokes gained putting on Bermuda in this field. He is a streaky player, but Henley’s form sets him up at a course that suits his game perfectly.

GPP Flier -– J.J. Spaun – $6,900

Spaun has had an inconsistent start to the season, but he has shown flashes of his potential, with a fifth-place finish at Sentry and a 12th at the Sony Open in Hawaii. After a few missed cuts, he had a solid showing at the Valero two weeks ago, gaining strokes in all categories on the way to a 22nd-place finish. Although he is relatively short off the tee, Spaun’s accuracy should keep him out of trouble on the tight fairways of Harbour Town, as he ranks 22nd in good drives in this field over the last 36 rounds. With his recent inconsistency, Spaun has low PGA DFS ownership projections in GPP contests, making him an attractive flier with upside.
