Oakland Athletics (J.P. Sears) at New York Yankees (Nestor Cortes)

Cortes is one of the top pitchers on the slate, making Yankees stacks an appealing option. On the other side of the mound, Sears has struggled with right-handed power in his major league career. With the Yankees boasting a number of right-handed hitters, they could potentially have a big day at the plate. Fantasy players should consider including a few Yankees in their lineups, especially those who excel against lefties.

St. Louis Cardinals (Miles Mikolas) at Chicago Cubs (Marcus Stroman)

Wrigley Field typically provides favorable pitching conditions, making both Mikolas and Stroman more appealing options than usual. Stroman has shown an uptick in strikeout percentage against right-handed hitters this season, which bodes well for him against a Cardinals team that features many right-handed batters. At just $6,000 on DraftKings, Mikolas is a solid pay-down SP2 option. However, he is one of the most over-owned pitchers according to Stokastic’s Top Pitchers Tool, so players should monitor his ownership before deciding to include him in their lineup.

Los Angeles Dodgers (Tony Gonsolin) at Milwaukee Brewers (Freddy Peralta)

Two good pitchers take the mound at Miller Park, with both Gonsolin and Peralta having a couple of red flags. Peralta faces the daunting task of pitching against the Dodgers, while Gonsolin’s ability to work deep into games is not reliable. Nevertheless, he threw 80 pitches in 4.2 innings in his last start, so he may get a longer leash in this game. Neither offense is in a great spot, but the Dodgers grade out relatively well in the Top Stack Tool despite the difficult matchup. Fantasy players should consider including some Dodgers in their lineup, especially those who excel against right-handed pitchers.

Chicago White Sox (Dylan Cease) at Kansas City Royals (Zack Greinke)

Cease is going overlooked in GPPs despite being projected to perform well. Many players are expected to opt for Cortes or Logan Gilbert in Cease’s price range. With the Chicago lineup being relatively inexpensive and projected to succeed, fantasy players should consider building their lineups around a White Sox core. They should be mindful of ownership, though, and try to include some lesser-owned players in their lineup to maximize their chances of winning.

Houston Astros (Hunter Brown) at Los Angeles Angels (Patrick Sandoval)

Despite the quality of the pitchers, this game has a surprisingly high run total of nine. Brown, like Cease, is currently projected to be under-owned compared to his chances of being one of the top two scoring pitchers on the slate. While the matchups are not ideal for either offense, the game is being played in a favorable park for hitters. Sandoval is typically good at limiting power, but that does not mean do not look to Houston given the amount of talent in their lineup. Fantasy players should consider including some Astros hitters in their lineup, especially those who excel against lefties.

Texas Rangers (Jon Gray) at Seattle Mariners (Logan Gilbert)

Gilbert is projected to be one of the highest-owned pitchers on the slate. He is a good, young pitcher who has shown strikeout improvement this season. He is also pitching in a favorable park for pitchers against a team with one of the lowest implied run totals on the slate. The Rangers have a very good offense, however, so it is a little surprising to see Gilbert pulling so much more ownership than pitchers like Cease and Brown. Mariners stacks are somewhat interesting, as Gray has struggled to start the season. His strikeout rates are down, and he has also allowed more expected power this season than he did last season. Seattle has plenty of hitters that can do damage if Gray does not have better stuff tonight than he has for most of the season.

Miami Marlins (Braxton Garrett) at Arizona Diamondbacks (Zac Gallen)

Gallen is the highest-projected pitcher on the slate. He has dominated this season, striking out 35.2% of hitters through his first seven starts. Garrett has had issues with right-handed power in his young career. Arizona is likely to have seven right-handed bats tonight, and they look like a strong stack.

Washington Nationals (Jake Irvin) at San Francisco Giants (Anthony DeSclafani)

This is a favorable matchup in a park that suppresses power for DeSclafani. It is a good matchup for the Nationals despite the park. Irvin projects as a below-average pitcher in the major leagues, and the Giants have plenty of quality bats that can take advantage. San Francisco currently has the highest implied run total on the slate.
