NFL DFS Picks: Week 7 Thoughts for DraftKings + FanDuel

Julio Jones Finally Breaks Out

Week 6 was a Julio Jones NFL DFS week. Everything pointed towards him as a great GPP play as the week wore on. On DraftKings, Jones was priced way under where he’s been priced historically. His matchup against the Vikings was ideal, and the field wasn’t rostering him. In addition, the field was rostering Calvin Ridley, so Jones served as leverage. After Jones caught eight passes for 137 yards with a pair of touchdowns, it figures the field will load up on him against the Lions. If this is the case, I will look to swerve and roster Ridley. He’s having a fantastic season with either 100 yards or a touchdown in all but one game. Favoring whoever is less owned between Jones and Ridley is likely how I will approach the Falcons’ stud receivers going forward.

The Public Perception Of Andy Dalton And The Cowboys

Monday Night Football this week was not pretty for Dallas. We knew the injury to Dak Prescott was a big deal, but nobody thought it would go this poorly. The Cowboys got waxed by the Cardinals last night, losing by a final score of 38-10. Washington is a really cheap defense this week, so I expect it to come in as the chalk play of the week. Per dollar, I can’t argue. I usually save money with defenses, and the Washington Football Team stands out at first glance.

On Sunday, we saw the Dolphins’ defense get out of control with ownership. They ended up with over 30% ownership in DraftKings GPPs, which leads me to think we could see something similar with Washington in Week 7. I don’t want to talk anybody off the defense, but this makes Cowboys’ stacks good leverage. For all his fumbling woes, Ezekiel Elliott is still averaging over 20 DraftKings points, and Dallas isn’t benching him. Dalton also has Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb to throw to. Despite the change in quarterbacks, this is still an explosive offense.

Justin Jackson: Top Daily Fantasy Football Value Play In Week 7

If there was some weird DFS format that forced lineups to get submitted on Tuesday, Jackson would end up as my most exposed player. With Austin Ekeler out, the Chargers split touches between Jackson and Joshua Kelley, but it was Jackson picking up slightly more work. Jackson carried the ball 15 times compared to 11 carries for Kelly. Jackson also saw more targets in the passing game by a margin of 5-to-1 Despite this, FanDuel and DraftKings both priced Kelly as the more expensive of the two backs. Jackson is the guy I want to roster in a great matchup against the Jaguars. Jacksonville’s defense ranks dead last in total defense DVOA.

The Kenyan Drake Conundrum

I think we all comfortably gave up on Drake. After producing next to nothing for the Cardinals through the first few games, he exploded against the Cowboys on MNF. Drake finished with 164 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns. This guy will not go away. Since pricing for this slate came out before last night’s game, Drake is one of the cheapest starting running backs across all NFL DFS sites. This makes it tough to totally ignore him, but I don’t think Drake will end up as a priority play for me. I will mix him into some daily fantasy football lineups and probably look to go about even with the field on Drake.

Chase Claypool Breaking Out

Claypool looks like a stud. He has massive big-play upside, leading to him scoring five touchdowns across the last two games. Without much of a price increase on FanDuel or DraftKings, I expect he will end up as one of the more popular plays of the week. Something to keep in mind is that we are only a couple of weeks removed from Diontae Johnson getting a similar amount of hype. One of the big reasons for the Claypool breakout is because Johnson missed time due to a back injury. He’s currently questionable to play, and if he is active, Johnson makes for a great GPP play. In the two healthy games we see from Johnson, he had 13 and 10 targets. At a cheaper price than Claypool and likely less ownership, Johnson looks like a great value play and also serves as leverage.
