NBA Betting Picks: Clippers First Half -6 (-114, DraftKings)

I’ve been waiting on this one all day, hoping we’d get some early Kawhi Leonard news. It hasn’t come, so I figured I’d just get the play out there with the betting strategy I’m looking at.

Leonard is questionable with a mouth laceration that held him out Sunday. The Clippers lost this game by an unthinkable margin — 51 points to the Mavericks. If you tailed last season, you know this — the Clippers are a fantastic bet off a loss. The trend carried into the bubble, really only fizzling out at the end of the Denver series.

This is the ultimate bounce-back spot, following a thumping for the ages. The Clippers are at home against a poor Minnesota team that’ll be without Karl-Anthony Towns. Rather than lay double digits for the full game, I’ll play the Clippers to come out firing and cover the half.

As for the timing, we need this Leonard news before betting. If he’s ruled in, you’ll want to fire away as quickly as possible. If he’s ruled out, we can wait until closer to tip and hope the line moves a point or two and get a better number.

Regardless, this will be a play once we hear on Leonard one way or another.
