The Vikings enter this game coming off their first win of the season. To put it lightly, 2020 has not been what Minnesota fans had hoped for. Despite being the odds favorite to win the NFC North before Week 1, the Vikings start the season 1-3, while having the 26th-ranked scoring defense. They also give up 6.1 yards per play (Tied for No. 23 in NFL).
One of the few defenses worse than the Vikings is Seattle’s. They give up 6.5 yards per play, which is tied for the second worst in the league. Teams have been able to pass all over them, as they have allowed 8.0 yards per pass attempt. On top of that, star safety Jamal Adams will be out again this week.
This puts pressure on the leading MVP candidate Russell Wilson. The Seahawks quarterback has been unstoppable this season, completing over 75 percent of his passes for 16 touchdowns and two interceptions (one was a drop from Greg Olsen). He has averaged 321.3 passing yards per game, and Wilson’s 11.7 percent touchdown rate is the best in the league. Since he faces a Vikings defense that allows 8.4 yards per pass attempt (second-worst in NFL), Minnesota better hope Kirk Cousins comes to play in prime time. The absence of fans should help him out.
