This column is a quick-hitter article to give you the stats you need to make informed PGA DFS picks for your DraftKings + FanDuel daily fantasy lineups and give you a couple of recommendations. On a typical showdown contest, DraftKings will offer upwards of 50K to first for rounds 2 & 3 showdown, and sometimes up to 100K for the final round contests. They also provide weekend-long contests that have been offering 25K to first for most weekends. Lastly, FanDuel has also tried to get into the weekend-long and final round contests, offering 10K & 5K to first.

Previous Round Commentary
Another Friday cut sweat, another couple of days/months/ maybe even years off my life. Both of my pivotal plays, Byeong Hun An & Jordan Spieth, were on fire right as the first weather horn blew. When they came back out, they couldn’t get it back, both playing two over in and missing the cut. Absolutely brutal. There were other casualties out there as well, but Colin Morikawa shows us that on a tough golf course, with not terribly tough greens, he’s an absolute force to be reckoned with.
There was another weather delay that would further hurt the chances of getting all the golfers in before dark, so the cut line and who makes the final two rounds is still very much in debate.
The expected Weather:
The same type of spotty Weather will remain. The winds could be higher in the morning but didn’t really perk up in the afternoon as they were expected to on Friday, so targeting the later golfers might end up being the prudent thing to do.
Previous Round Stat Review
Justin Thomas has been mighty impressive, no bogeys on the card, and could certainly be a challenger to Morikawa over the weekend. He’s the only player bogey-free.
BOB Leaders Round 2
- Collin Morikawa & Kevin Streelman (9)
- Seven tied with seven, including Viktor Hovland, Carlo Ortiz, & Gary Woodland.

Strokes Gained Ball Striking vs. Putting
Brendan Steele continues his impressive bounce-back season, gaining another four strokes ball striking not eh day. He lost even more with his putter today, however, giving him a five-stroke differential on average per round. Keegan Bradley & Phil Mickelson are the only other two above four strokes, while Patrick Reed & Viktor Holand are the other ones with a three-stroke differential and round out the top 5.
PGA DFS Slate Preview:
DraftKings is offering $50,000 to the first contest with $200,000K Gtd. Plenty of other offerings, including the $100 long drive single entry contests offering 5K to first and 35K Gtd. For the other medium/high rollers, there’s a $444 pressure putt for round 3, with 25K to first. They are also offering a 25K to first weekend-long contest and a full slate of other offerings there.
FanDuel steps up their game a bit as they are offering 10K to first for their weekend-long product. They still aren’t offering showdown contests.

PGA DFS Showdown & Weekend Picks
Top-10 Breakdown & PickÂ
Collin Morikawa has no shortage of big-time chases behind him going into the week, and even a very familiar one in Viktor Hovland. Maybe even to some degree, Sam Burns as well. Still, Justin Thomas, I’m sure is the biggest problem for Collin, not to discredit Kevin Streelman, who looks to make it two big-time starts in a row for his career. Chase Seiffert backers are rewarded through two rounds at least, while Ian Poulter is LOSING strokes tee to green, but somehow finds himself inside the top 10 heading into Saturday.
Justin Thomas ($10,400)
If anyone is going to chase down Morikawa, it’ll be Thomas. Obviously, he’s going to be high owned, but you can’t get all four of Thomas, Matsuyama, Hovland & Morikawa in the same lineup, so it’s about finding the right pieces around them. Burns won’t be under-owned anymore, as gamers will see the low price tag and try to gain some salary flexibility there.
Stud or Value Pick Outside of Top 10
Patrick Reed ($9,200)
Hopefully, he’ll be at least one of the semi-forgotten ones as people try to go up and get the four studs that are inside the top 10 heading to the Saturday. Pat hasn’t found his putter but has undoubtedly found his tee to green game, which I think should bode very well for him the next two days. I like him for both round three and weekend-long contests.
Sneaky Pick Outside of Top 10
K.H. Lee ($6,300)
After a water ball on 16 almost sent him packing for home, Lee bounced back and made birdie on 17 to solidify his paycheck. He’s been very good with his irons each of the first two days gaining well over a stroke in both of them. His off the tee game dropped a little in round two but was there for the first round, so it shouldn’t be completely lost. Give him a good amount of fairways hit tomorrow, and he could go low.
PGA DFS Lineup Fill-Ins:
Brendan Steele ($7,300)
Corey Conners ($7,600)
Jason Day ($8,000)Â
Mackenzie Hughes ($6,600)
