UCL DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Fantasy Soccer Lineups

**All Odds from BetMGM**

Manchester City (-333) vs. Atletico Madrid (+1,000), over/under 2.5

Benfica (+750) vs. Liverpool (-278), over/under 2.5

Forwards/ Midfielders

Mohamed Salah (DraftKings: $9,700, FanDuel $21)

Sadio Mane (DraftKings: $7,700, FanDuel $19)

On a two-game main slate, Liverpool and Manchester City come in as heavy favorites. Liverpool go on the road to take on Benfica. Benfica upset Juventus in their previous round but will have a tough outing this time around. Liverpool is used to the pressure of the Champions League and will bring an EPL-leading 2.46 expected goals per match to the table. Its actual goals are evenly split regardless of home or away status at 39 and 38, respectively, on the year. Mohamed Salah will lead the charge for a club that has posted two-plus goals in 12 of their previous 16 matches across all competitions.

Salah leads the EPL in scoring and shot volume at 4.36 attempts per match. His on-target rate is 38.1%, giving him a decent floor on FanDuel, where he is the highest-priced option. Benfica has kept a clean sheet in just three of their previous 12 outings and is in a weaker league in terms of offensive firepower. Liverpool will prove to be too much and should walk away with a victory in this one.

The pairing for Salah start with the two wingbacks mentioned below in the defenders section. The attacking help in GPP is Sadio Mane and one of Diogo Jota or Luis Diaz. Mane comes at a discount and has contributed on 16% of the club’s scoring. Jota mimics the contribution rate with one more goal than Mane. If Diaz starts, he falls in the price range and is above 3.30 shots per match, the same as Jota and Mane. In cash games it would have to be Salah and one of the three to make room for Manchester City’s attack, which is priced through the roof. In GPP there might be a case for taking the volume of Mane and Jota or Diaz to pair with the Liverpool wingbacks and spend up for the Manchester City front line without Salah. This will create exposure to the highest favorites and, without Salah, the leverage for a GPP attack.

Riyad Mahrez (DraftKings: $10,300, FanDuel $17)

Raheem Sterling (DraftKings: $8,300, FanDuel $18)

Next up is the home side of Manchester City in what could be a tough match up against Atletico Madrid. Madrid is a strong defense with 0.87 expected goals allowed per match. They do not often see an offense of the Manchester City’s caliber and were overmatched by Liverpool in the group stage of this competition. They allowed two-plus goals in defeat in each of their two defeats. It is hard to think they will hold Manchester City off the scoresheet on the road. The attack of Manchester City flows through Kevin De Bruyne, and his form and goal contribution rate has picked up his form across all competitions. The ownership will be on De Bruyne, and Riyad Mahrez is a pivot. Mahrez handles set shares and penalties this season. He will let the shots fly from any angle and averages 3.41 attempts per match, which leads the club. His crossing volume is 7.04 per match. The case above of getting away from Salah would free up the room for Mahrez and De Bruyne in lineups with goal contribution pieces from Liverpool. On FanDuel there is no reason to get away from Mahrez, as his price is too cheap for the shot volume and scoring odds alone.

Raheem Sterling is the goal-hunting option that seems too cheap. He needs a goal contribution, and in cash games Jota or Mane would provide needed salary relief with similar scoring upside. Sterling averages 2.59 shots per match, which is concerning, but the on-target rate of 47% is worth a shot on a small slate. Getting any form of exposure to the attacking line of the home side could pay off because of the spread scoring of the club, and Bernardo Silva rounds out the options. He averages 4.13 scoring chances created and has seven goals on the year. Mahrez has to be the choice over Silva on FanDuel given the $17 salary for each. On DraftKings Silva is hard to pass up with a $7,500 salary, and he has as many goals as Phil Foden and Jack Grealish.

Other Options: Darwin Nunez (DraftKings: $5,600, FanDuel $16), Joao Felix (DraftKings: $6,200, FanDuel $16), Antoine Griezmann (DraftKings: $6,600, FanDuel $17)

Renan Lodi (DraftKings: $5,000, FanDuel $10)

The defenders spot has one-offs and picks from Atletico. Renan Lodi has done well in attacking mode, though he will not likely keep the goal contribution rate going from his previous two matches. The key is the open-play volume mixed with interceptions that will see an uptick, as possession looks to be on City’s favor for this match.

The cash option for a one-off is Alejandro Grimaldo. Benfica will be on the defense for most of the match, and Grimaldo mixes in won tackles/interceptions at over three per match. He handles the indirect sets for the club and averages 6.54 crosses per match on the year. This mark could see a downswing in exchange for extra opportunities for defensive marks, which makes his price tag still in the 1-1.5x value range. In GPP Lodi would make the upside option with a defender from Liverpool, while Grimaldo would fill the one-off role in cash games for Liverpool and Manchester City stacks.

Other Options: Trent Alexander-Arnold (DraftKings: $8,200, FanDuel $15), Andrew Robertson (DraftKings: $6,700, FanDuel $13), Joao Cancelo (DraftKings: $6,500, FanDuel $14)

Alisson (DraftKings: $5,700, FanDuel $12)

Ederson (DraftKings: $5,900, FanDuel $11)
