Cooper Kupp is being drafted as a fourth-round pick and the 17th wide receiver off the board. That is much higher than last season, even though from a career standpoint Kupp has been relatively consistent. So the question today is, can Kupp have a bounce-back season, or will he fail to reach the expectations put on him at his current average draft position? Let’s look into his 2020 season and predict where is will finish in the 2021 NFL fantasy football rankings.

Kupp’s Production in 2020
Going into last season there was tons of debate between Kupp and Robert Woods. Since they were going in a similar range, drafters had to choose one or the other. In the end, Woods had the better season in 2020. Kupp played in 15 games, seeing 125 targets (16th at his position) for 92 receptions (ninth), 969 yards (20th) and three touchdowns (65th). The issue was not his target share, as he saw 23.7% target share (21st) and 26% in the red zone. The issue was the severe lack of touchdowns that immensely reduced his fantasy value
Rams Offseason Changes
Matthew Stafford going to the Rams is the best news for any Rams player on the offensive side of the ball. For the wide receivers, having one of the better quarterbacks in the league gives them a huge boost from Jared Goff. Now, Goff was not terrible, but Stafford has generally been a better volume passer than Goff.
Kupp’s Outlook in 2021
With the addition of Stafford, there is a shot that both Woods and Kupp can finish as top-12 receivers. Stafford has given top-tier production to multiple wide receivers at the same time, with Kenny Golladay and in Detroit. While Kupp is not the main target, that does not mean he cannot finish in the top 12 or even ahead of his ADP WR17. There should be an increase in touchdowns in 2021, and with superior quarterback play Kupp has tons of potential. He is also a reliable fantasy selection given his target volume. Draft Kupp inside of the fourth or fifth round and expect a safe wide receiver with upside.
