With eight ball games scheduled for Monday evening, here are a few Monkey Knife Fight MLB picks we have our eye on.
Today’s Top Monkey Knife Fight MLB Player Prop PicksÂ
Astros vs. Orioles ‘More or Less’ Contest (5x Buy-In)
Both teams will be facing concerns when it comes to their starting pitching in tonight’s matchup. Veteran Jake Odorizzi draws the start for the Astros. If his stats thus far are any indication, his best stuff is in the rearview mirror. He hasn’t pitched more than 5.1 innings in any of his seven starts. He has only surpassed the Monkey Knife Fight line of 4.5 strikeouts twice all season. Although the Orioles aren’t the most intimidating of lineups, they are right in the middle of the league when it comes to strikeouts per game. Odorizzi will need to go at least five innings to have a shot at the over.
Orioles starter Keegan Akin hasn’t exactly pitched deep into games this season either. His longest outing lasted just 5.2 innings. That came in his most recent start last Wednesday. He surrendered eight hits and eight earned runs to see his season ERA balloon to 5.76. A matchup tonight against a red-hot Astros lineup is far from ideal. Houston has won seven straight games. The team has averaged over 11 hits during this ongoing winning streak. All of this points to Akin giving up more than 5.5 tonight.
Coinciding with the Astros recent tear is the hot bat of Yordan Alvarez. Alvarez is hitting .308 on the season and carries an eight-game hitting streak into tonight’s contest. While he isn’t one to walk often (13 on the season), Alvarez has reached base on balls four times over his last 10 games. A hot bat plus shaky Baltimore pitching favors the over on 1.5 hits/walks for Alvarez in this MLB picks contest.

Indians vs. Cubs ‘Rapidfire’ Contest (3x Buy-In)
With a little help from the Awesemo MLB DFS projections, gamers can find an advantage in this Monkey Knife Fight fantasy points contest. The first matchup sees Indians’ third baseman Jose Ramirez laying 0.5 fantasy points to Cubs outfielder Joc Pederson. Neither player has been swinging the bat extremely well of late. In terms of history, Ramirez has faced Cubs starter Adbert Alzolay three times, with one hit to show for it. The Awesemo projections pinpoint Ramirez for 9.00 fantasy points and Pederson for 7.65 tonight. This would give the edge to Ramirez. One thing to note about Monkey Knife Fight MLB scoring is the lack of points deduction for strikeouts. With Pederson much more prone to striking out than Ramirez, be sure to factor this into handicaps.
The second matchup in this contest features Chicago’s Anthony Rizzo laying 0.5 points to outfielder Ian Happ. The Awesemo MLB DFS projections have Rizzo amassing 7.64 fantasy points tonight compared to 6.81 for Happ. Happ has really struggled at the plate this season, making Rizzo the more attractive option. Rizzo also has one hit off of Cleveland starter Aaron Civale in three prior at-bats.
Brewers vs. Diamondbacks ‘More or Less’ Contest (3x Buy-In)
Both of these players have provided plenty of reason to be bullish for this contest. The Brewers have to be very excited to see Freeman rounding into form over the past couple of weeks. Christian Yelich has hit safely in five straight games coming into tonight’s contest. He has also gone over the contest line of 1.5 hits/walks in four straight and eight of the last 10 games. There is no sense picking against him to do so again tonight.
Meanwhile, Ketel Marte has been on a hitting tear as well. He also carries a five-game hitting streak into tonight’s contest. Although his prop deals with total bases, Marte hasn’t had much trouble going over 1.5 of late. He has recorded multiple hits in four of his last seven games. This includes his three-hit effort yesterday afternoon. Marte has tagged Brewers starter Brett Anderson for a single and double in three prior at-bats coming into tonight’s matchup. Look to play over on both players for this contest.
