Initially, I was surprised with the line for this fight between Kevin Aguilar and Tucker Lutz. Not often will you find the UFC veteran as an underdog to a newcomer, and I believe this is a case of recency bias. Lutz performed well on the Contender Series, but if you examine his record, you will notice a weak strength of schedule. Aguilar on the other hand has already acquired UFC victories, but is on a skid. Aguilar has good striking, decent takedown defense and the UFC experience to walk away victorious.

Mike Grundy -125

In an exciting featherweight bout, we have Mike Grundy taking on Lando Vannata. I have become a fan of Grundy’s strong wrestling style, and I think he can utilize it in this matchup. Grundy possesses some of the strongest wrestling in the UFC, and I think he can take Vannata to takedown city and control him throughout. On the feet, Grundy can exchange with Vannata, but I wouldn’t recommend it for long. I was surprised this line wasn’t wider, but I love this value at -125.

In the striker’s delight, we have Edson Barboza taking on Shane Burgos. I can’t wait to watch this fight as we have a volume boxer in Burgos against a Barboza and his kickboxing prowess. This is a clash of styles and both men have taken a lot of damage throughout their careers. I believe Burgos’ volume could pose problems for Barboza, but the lack of power could keep Barboza in the fight. Barboza could punish the heavy front leg of Burgos, and I believe the kicks will be the difference in this matchup. Sign me up for one of the scariest strikers in the UFC as a +120 underdog.
