Wednesday night brings a new matchup to NBA DFS for DraftKings and FanDuel. Tonight is the first game of the Eastern Conference Finals with the Milwaukee Bucks vs. Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks are coming off an improbable upset over the 76ers, which is the biggest upset of the NBA playoffs to this point. With that said, Atlanta beating Milwaukee is even more unlikely. The Bucks are massive favorites in this series after beating the Nets last round despite great play from Kevin Durant. Using Awesemo’s expert daily fantasy basketball projections, ownership rankings and lineup optimizer, let’s get into some of the best DFS NBA picks today.
NBA DFS Deep Dive: DraftKings + FanDuel | June 23
Giannis Antetokounmpo ($12,400 DraftKings/$16,500 FanDuel) — It is really difficult to avoid Antetokounmpo in this matchup. Against the Nets, there was another star in Kevin Durant whose fantasy output was comparable to Antetokounmpo’s. There is no other play on his level in this series. Antetokounmpo projects for significantly more fantasy points than any other player in this matchup. There is also enough value that makes it easy to fit Antetokounmpo into lineups. He is clearly the top overall play in this game on FanDuel and DraftKings.
Trae Young ($11,600 DraftKings/$15,000 FanDuel) — Unless Young has a massive game, it’s hard to see the Hawks staying competitive tonight. The Bucks are favored by 8.5 points, and that line continues to grow as the day drags on. Milwaukee could end up as a double-digit favorite by the time the game tips. The Hawks aren’t getting much respect from winning a series over the 76ers. The public perception is more that the 76ers lost than that Atlanta won. There is a massive talent gap between these teams, and Young will have to play massive minutes while shouldering a high usage rate for the Hawks to compete in this series.

Pat Connaughton ($2,200 DraftKings/$7,500 FanDuel) — The Bucks went to a really short rotation in their series against the Nets. The starters played nearly the entire game, which meant there were very few minutes available for the bench players. Connaughton was the only player off the bench to consistently get decent run, and he played over 20 minutes in each of the last four games. There is also a chance that he will enter the starting lineup tonight. P.J. Tucker started last series to matchup against Durant, but it’s unclear if the Bucks will stick with that lineup.
Onyeka Okongwu ($1,000 DraftKings/$6,500 FanDuel) — The Hawks played their most important game in years, and Okongwu played an important role. Atlanta trusted him to play 16 minutes, which was his biggest workload of the postseason. Considering the stakes of that game, this bodes well for Okongwu’s fantasy potential going forward. This isn’t to say he will start over Clint Capela, but Okongwu is min price on DraftKings and scores about a fantasy point per minute. This makes him one of the top per-dollar plays in the game.
