NBA DFS Picks: Prime Time Players
Kristaps Porzingis: Dallas Mavericks at Indiana Pacers
DraftKings $7,000, FanDuel $8,000, Yahoo $33 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 52.4%, FanDuel 25.3% Yahoo Fantasy 38.6%
This is an easy one after seeing how many minutes Kristaps Porzingis played on Friday night with Luka Doncic sidelined with an ankle sprain. In his five games back after missing 10 with his own injury, Porzingis had played between 20-25 minutes. We know what Porzingis is capable of when Doncic misses, but the 35.6 minutes was a surprise for most. Saturday, Porzingis got the night off, so it would make sense to think that 34 minutes is a nice baseline for tonight’s matchup.
In 367.2 minutes without Doncic on the court, Porzingis is posting 1.38 fantasy points per minute with a 29.2% usage rate. In December, Doncic missed four games (at Toronto, at Philadelphia, vs. Boston and at Milwaukee). During this stretch, Porzingis averaged 35.7 minutes with 22.5 points, 13.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 3.5 combined blocks/steals for 50 fantasy points per game.
NBA DFS Picks: Good Value
Bruce Brown Jr: Detroit Pistons at Memphis Grizzlies
DraftKings $3,800, FanDuel $4,000, Yahoo $13 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 16.5%, FanDuel 3.8% Yahoo Fantasy <1.0%
This is a bit of a presumptive recommendation. However, there is a lot of merit to thinking that Derrick Rose will be out after suffering a groin injury yesterday. There is also a question of how much Reggie Jackson plays after rolling up 34.2 minutes in yesterday’s overtime win. He missed nearly three months with a back injury and did not play in the only other back-to-back in the seven games since his return.
We should know the status of the aforementioned duo in plenty of time to take action, but all signs point to Brown being in line for 30-ish minutes in a fast-paced matchup tonight. Brown is averaging about 0.8-0.85 fantasy points per minute depending on scoring systems. If Jackson plays and Rose does not, both Jackson and Brown are viable options.

NBA DFS Picks: Risky Value
Caris LeVert: Brooklyn Nets vs. Phoenix Suns
DraftKings $4,700, FanDuel $4,100, Yahoo $17 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 15.9%, FanDuel 27.5% Yahoo Fantasy 3.4%
This would seem to be an outstanding time to roll with Caris LeVert. However, in his last 13 games since returning from injury, he has topped 25 minutes twice and he has not played more than 23 minutes in the last six. Unless we receive encouraging reports on a minutes increase, I will be letting other gamers assume the risk of no upside potential.
NBA DFS Picks: SuperDraft
Kristaps Porzingis: Dallas Mavericks at Indiana Pacers – 1.35x multiplier
Spencer Dinwiddie: Brooklyn Nets vs. Phoenix Suns – 1.4x multiplier
Nikola Vucevic: Orlando Magic at Charlotte Hornets – 1.3x multiplier
Our standout SuperDraft recommendation for today is Kristaps Porzingis who is discussed in the Prime Time Player section above. Spencer Dinwiddie should see additional responsibilities with Kyrie Irving out for at least a week with a wrenched knee. It is a bonus that Phoenix is on a back-to-back. Finally, we have Nikola Vucevic, who is seventh in the league with 11.0 rebounds per game going against the Hornets who are the third-worst rebounding team over their last 15 games, allowing opponents to corral 52% of the available rebounds.
