Yahoo NBA DFS Picks Today: Free Fantasy Basketball Rankings 2/4/22

There is a nine-game NBA slate on tap for Friday. There are five teams that are on tail ends of back-to-backs for this slate (Chicago, Toronto, San Antonio, Detroit and Atlanta), so watch those teams more closely for potential late lineup movement, and also factor the lack of rest into NBA DFS strategy and decision making. There are plenty of big names ruled out for this slate, but one of the biggest questionable tags belongs to Dejounte Murray, who missed the Spurs game last night. Zach Lavine is also questionable for today, as he has been dealing with back issues. The biggest total on the slate can be found in the Houston – San Antonio game, which is currently sitting at a 234.5 over/under. Philadelphia – Dallas has the lowest total on the slate (212.5). This will be a night where it will be important to pivot fast if there is late news on a couple of players, so make sure to keep watching the Awesemo Projections and daily fantasy basketball tools as they will be updated as the news flow in.

Yahoo NBA DFS Picks & Value Plays Today | Feb. 4

Guard — James Harden $49

There is some major injury news to wait on tonight, but one player who looks ready to carry out DFS lineups is James Harden. Brooklyn comes into this game as 3.5-point underdogs but is taking on a Utah team that continues to be battered by injuries and could be without one of their best interior defenders in Hassan Whiteside. Harden ranks just ahead of Luka Doncic tonight in the projections and will likely come in with lesser rostership in large-field GPPs despite being cheaper than Doncic by $4. With him coming off one of his worst performances of the year, it is a good time to buy low and build around Harden.

Update: James Harden has been ruled out.

Guard — Caris LeVert $32

Indiana continues to field a short rotation due to injuries, and the usage rate for Caris LeVert has been steadily increasing with the injuries/COVID outages to players like Malcolm Brogdon, Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner. Chicago could possibly be without Zach Lavine today as well, which would help this spot for LeVert, who has posted 33 Yahoo points or more in five of his last eight games. It is hard to see him going under that with all the big names out for Indiana today, and LeVert is the top option at shooting guard today in the projections.

Forward — Evan Mobley $29

There are some good value options at forward to take advantage of today. Evan Mobley is coming off a career game where he posted 29 points against the Rockets and gets (potentially) an even tastier matchup today against the Hornets. Charlotte is bottom five in pretty much every defensive category — including points and assists allowed — and plays at one of the fastest paces in the league. The matchup and recent usage rate for Mobley have pushed his price near $30, but he is the third-best option in the projections, making him a clear value target today for play in Yahoo daily fantasy basketball.

Forward — Robert Covington $20

Robert Covington had one of the most impressive fantasy lines of recent memory in his last outing, as he failed to score a single point but still managed to post 41 Yahoo points thanks to 13 rebounds, nine assists and four steals. Covington is locked into a 30-plus minutes per game and faces the Thunder tonight, who are the worst rebounding team in the league. If he can rebound in the shooting department, a triple-double may not be out of the question.

Update: Covington has been traded to the Clippers.

Center — Pascal Siakam $42

Pascal Siakam remains one of the most trustworthy targets in daily fantasy basketball. He is averaging over 40 minutes and over 50 fantasy points in his last 10 games and continues to have safe minutes and usage that will only be affected by injuries or foul trouble. Siakam is one of the top four options at center on a very strong slate for the position, but he also faces an Atlanta team that loves to push the pace and has given up the seventh-most points in the league. Siakam is an elite pay-down option off the top two players at his position today.

Center — Nikola Vucevic $36

Nikola Vucevic is coming off a monster double-double performance that saw him record 30 points and 18 rebounds against a solid Raptors squad. Vucevic man has averaged well over 50 Yahoo points in his last three games and has a great matchup today against a depleted Pacers frontcourt. Vucevic is a great value option at center and the player to target if not paying up for either of the top options in Joel Embiid or Nikola Jokic.

Yahoo NBA DFS Value Play — Hassan Whiteside $25 (Questionable)

It is worth noting right off the top that Hassan Whiteside may not suit up for today’s game (back). The Jazz are so banged up, though, that if he does go, Whiteside seems assured of playing bigger minutes. He has played 27 or more minutes in each of his last five games with Rudy Gobert sidelined and would be in a solid spot today against a Nets team that ranks 28th in offensive rebounds allowed. If Whiteside does not play, then pivoting to a player like Rudy Gay at $10 would be a great way to take advantage of this situation. There is big value with Utah tonight, so watch the updates.

Yahoo NBA DFS Value Play — Brandon Goodwin $10

The Cavaliers have injury issues at guard with Ricky Rubio done for the year and Darius Garland also out. That has opened up a significant role for Brandon Goodwin, who has topped 20 Yahoo points in his last two games. Goodwin could easily push for 30-plus minutes again, and while he is not the most efficient fantasy producer, the matchup today is a plus one, as he is taking on a Hornets team that is ranked dead last in assists allowed and second-to-last in points allowed. Goodwin has the second-highest value score on the entire slate in the projections and is one of the best extreme value options of the last week.
