Yahoo Fantasy Basketball Picks Today: Free NBA DFS Rankings 3/15/22

It is a smaller four-game slate in the NBA tonight. The largest point total is with Memphis vs. Orlando, which currently sits at 235.5 points on the over/under. There are three games with point totals over 230.0 and lots of scoring potential on the slate as a whole. Memphis also has big injury news to watch for with Ja Morant listed as doubtful for this game. Both Cade Cunningham and Malcolm Brogdon are also now listed as questionable, throwing this smaller slate into more disarray. It will be a waiting game on many big names tonight but this will look at many top targets and value possibilities below on what should be an eventful evening in NBA DFS.

Yahoo Fantasy Basketball & NBA DFS Value Picks Today

Guard — C.J. McCollum $39

The Pelicans vs. Suns game has the most fantasy intrigue on this slate, as there is a close points spread of -4.5/+4.5 points and two teams who are missing key players. With Brandon Ingram out for the Pelicans, their remaining starters should be in line for better usage today and that could mean plenty of looks for C.J. McCollum. While both McCollum and Jonas Valanciunas are likely to see great usage in this spot, lean towards McCollum, who seems harder to pivot off of given the options available at point guard. McCollum is returning from a layoff himself today but it was not injury induced and he should be in line for a massive workload. Before entering the health and safety protocols, McCollum had been on fire, landing over 30-points in two straight games, while also showing good usage as a playmaker. Against the Chris Paul-less Suns, look for his role to continue to make him a pay-up priority when targeting this Suns vs. Pelicans game.

Guard — Devin Booker $43

The Suns are still without Paul and that has meant good things for Devin Booker‘s overall fantasy value. The guard has seen an increase in usage as a playmaker and heads into this game with the Pelicans having produced 26 assists over his last three games alone. He has now produced over 50 Yahoo points in three of his last four games and is operating as a true stud whose floor is not a nightly roller coaster. The Pelicans will likely be without Ingram again, making this match-up slightly better for Booker as well. Booker is grading out extremely well in the Awesemo NBA DFS Projections today, above the two Brooklyn Nets studs who carry similar upside but definitely have been eating into each other’s usage a lot as well. New Orleans has been playing at a faster pace of late and this game has a close point spread, making Booker a perfect player to build around today.

Forward — Wendell Carter Jr. $28

There is obviously a decision to make at Power Forward today as Kevin Garnett is the one true stud available but comes at a steep price of $52, nearly double the next most expensive player. There are some blowout and usage concerns today with the Nets favored by over 10.0 points and Garnett coming off a game where he played over 40 minutes. Pivoting off Garnett for GPPs and hoping Brooklyn decides to take it easy on him in an easier matchup then makes sense for big field entries, and you can even play the other side of this game with Wendall Carter Jr. as a leverage play. Carter Jr. rates out second in the Awesemo NBA player projections at Power Forward and has been no slouch of late, posting 35.0 or more Yahoo points now in five of his last six starts. If you are fading the Nets’ big names, then going with Carter and hoping the Nets’ role players do lots of heavy lifting is a good strategy today.

Forward — Buddy Hield $24

A little value is needed to help fit in higher-priced point guards and there is certainly no harm in looking to the NBA DFS value factory that is the Indiana Pacers for help. Indiana may be without Brogdon today, which would almost certainly mean a little more ball-handling and usage as a playmaker for Buddy Hield, who has produced over 30-Yahoo points now in five straight games. Hield rates out second in the Awesemo NBA point projections at his position and comes in at his reliable $24 mark on Yahoo, the same price he has been for over five slates. Against what could be a short-handed Grizzlies team, Hield looks like a solid back at what is still a very solid price tag.

Center — Andre Drummond $21

The Magic is a great opponent for most opposing centers, as they rank bottom-five in rebounds allowed and do not have an imposing defensive presence at center. This should be a night where fans see Andre Drummond perform, and the former Piston has been very efficient for fantasy purposes over his last few outings. Drummond has racked up double-doubles in two of his last three games despite playing well under 30-minutes and rates out as a top NBA DFS pick today on Awesemo. The Nets should continue to give Drummond his regular 20-27 minutes today and that will likely be more than enough to outperform his $21 salary given the matchup with Orlando. With lots of expensive guards to pay-up for, using Drummond and his ability to stat pad against a weaker team like the Magic is a great way to save cash at center.

Yahoo NBA DFS Value Play — Goran Dragic $10

The Nets have a monster implied team total of 122 today and are also sitting at -10.5 points on the spread. Goran Dragic played over 38 minutes in his last outing and could be in line for a larger role again if this one does get out of hand. The Nets starters are all popping highly today due to the matchup with the Pistons, but for value, the Nets bench players also get a huge boost today as well. Dragic rates out with a top-five value score at his position in the Awesemo Model and should be in line for solid minutes in this one considering the setup.

Yahoo NBA DFS Value Play — Tyus Jones $10

The Grizzlies may potentially be without Ja Morant today, which would obviously open up a big time hole at guard. Tyus Jones has averaged well over a fantasy point per minute on Yahoo over his last four games and has now posted over 20 Yahoo fantasy points in each of his last two games despite seeing less than 20 minutes on the floor. He would be in a big spot today if he got the start, as the Pelicans are still banged up and have been playing at a faster pace of late.
