NBA Daily Fantasy Projections & DFS Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel 3/1

Tuesday night presents a six-game NBA slate. As always, be sure to watch the Awesemo NBA Starting Lineups page closely today for updates on each team before making your NBA picks. The biggest names that carry questionable tags tonight are LeBron James (knee, below) and Fred VanVleet (knee). James has played through a questionable tag in nearly every game this season, so it would be shocking if he was inactive, while VanVleet feels less unlikely. The guard was absent last night and the Raptors cruised to an easy 36-point win over the Nets. Toronto will face this same Brooklyn squad again tonight and sitting VanVleet again seems like the logical decision. Malachi Flynn got the spot start in place of VanVleet last night and delivered 36 DraftKings points in 33 minutes. If Flynn receives another start with VanVleet out, the guard would have to be considered at near minimum salaries on both DraftKings and FanDuel. Below are some NBA daily fantasy basketball picks that stand out for tonight’s slate using Awesemo’s Boom/Bust Tool and NBA DFS projections.

Boom: Reggie Jackson: $8,200 DraftKings/$7,000 FanDuel

Ever since the Clippers lost Norman Powell (foot) a few weeks ago, Jackson has flourished, scoring 39.4 DraftKings PPG across his last six starts. During this stretch, the guard has led the Clippers with a 28.3% usage rate and 35.2 minutes a night. Furthermore, Jackson faced the Rockets twice during this run and recorded over 40 DraftKings points on both occasions. For the third and final time this season, the Clippers will once again match up with the Rockets this evening. Plain and simple, Houston is the best matchup to attack in fantasy basketball. Not only do they rank dead last in defensive efficiency, but the Rockets play at the fourth-fastest pace in the league. In this dream spot, the Clippers carry the highest implied team total on the slate with 117.25 points and this contest’s total is the second largest of the night at 227.5 points.

Jackson is a strong bet for over 40 fantasy points tonight and while he is a great target on both sites, the guard is a near must-play at only $7,000 on FanDuel. At this affordable salary, Jackson owns a top-five Boom score on the slate for FanDuel in Awesemo’s Boom Bust Tool.

Boom: Ivica Zubac: $6,100 DraftKings/$5,800 FanDuel

When the Clippers defeated the Rockets just this past Sunday, Zubac erupted for a season-high 50.8 DraftKings points. The center is now averaging 33.2 DraftKings PPG in these last six without Powell, including four double-doubles. In that huge outburst Sunday, Zubac logged 33.8 minutes and he should see right around 30 minutes again tonight in this spot that requires his size to match up with Christian Wood.

Zubac is contributing 1.1 DraftKings PPM over the last month and on top of Houston being the worst defense in the NBA, they are giving up the second most points in the paint. The center could not ask for a better matchup and in four tilts the Clippers have carried an implied team total of at least 115 points this season, Zubac has been terrific with 36 DraftKings PPG. The big man should effortlessly beat his current price tags tonight and is not expected to come with much ownership on either DraftKings or FanDuel, according to Awesemo’s NBA projections.

Boom: Luka Doncic: $12,000 DraftKings/$10,800 FanDuel

Without a doubt, Doncic is the best stud to build around tonight. In these past 13 starts without Tim Hardaway Jr. (foot) and Kristaps Porzingis (traded to Washington), Doncic has looked like an MVP candidate, producing 65.3 DraftKings PPG. In the 716 minutes the superstar has played with Hardaway Jr. and Porzingis off the court this season, Doncic’s usage has increased 3.9 percentage points to a massive 41.1%, resulting in 1.7 DraftKings PPM.

Tonight, he will be playing way up in pace against the Lakers. This season, Los Angeles ranks second in pace compared to the Mavs, who rank dead last. Dallas has the sixth highest implied team total on the slate in this up-tempo spot at 111 points and on BetMGM, Doncic’s prop line is set at 31.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 9.5 assists. Before defensive stats and bonuses are credited, this is already 57 DraftKings points. In Awesemo’s Boom Bust Tool, Doncic boasts a top-three Boom score on the slate for both DraftKings and FanDuel.

Bust: LeBron James: $11,200 DraftKings/$11,000 FanDuel

Even with Anthony Davis (foot) sidelined, James has struggled since returning from the All-Star Break, scoring less than 50 DraftKings points in his past two starts. Now with the Mavs coming to town, it is unreasonable to expect James to get back on track. Dallas ranks fifth in defensive efficiency and the Lakers’ implied team total is the second-lowest on the board at 105.5 points. Even in a game that went to overtime, James finished with only 38.3 DraftKings points across 42.6 minutes when the Lakers and Mavs last met back in December.

Lastly, on BetMGM the forward’s prop line for tonight reads 28.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists, which equates to only 44.3 fantasy points before defensive stats and bonuses. For both DraftKings and FanDuel, this is well short of five-times value for James and rostering him tonight is a total mistake with far better pay up options available.
