Wednesday night delivers an eight-game NBA slate. As always, be sure to watch the Awesemo NBA Starting Lineups page closely today for updates on each team before making your NBA picks, specifically for the status of Darius Garland (questionable, back). Caris LeVert (foot) and Rajon Rondo (toe) have already been ruled out and with these three players inactive for the last two, Brandon Goodwin has started at point for the Cavaliers and provided 34 DraftKings points in 36 minutes per game. Facing a Hornets’ club that leads the NBA in pace, Goodwin would be an elite value tonight if Garland ends up sitting. Below are some NBA daily fantasy basketball picks that stand out for tonight’s slate using Awesemo’s Boom/Bust Tool and NBA DFS projections.

Boom: Rudy Gobert: $7,800 DraftKings/$7,800 FanDuel

After missing nine straight games with a calf injury, Gobert is back to full strength, generating 43.4 DraftKings PPG across his last two starts. The center has been an excellent fantasy producer this season with 1.3 DraftKings PPM and on the menu for tonight is the No.1 matchup in fantasy basketball in the Rockets. Houston ranks dead last in defensive efficiency and fourth in pace. Plus, they have major issues inside, allowing the second-most points in the paint, making this a perfect spot for a center like Gobert. No team presents a higher implied team total than the Jazz tonight with 122 points and this contest’s total is the third-largest on the slate at 229 points. Four times this season the Jazz have carried an implied team total of 120 points or greater, and Gobert has been a monster on those occasions, scoring 46.3 DraftKings PPG.

For whatever reason, the big man currently only costs $7,800 on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The center’s salary got all the way up to around $10,000 on both sites earlier this season and Gobert is an extremely tough fade tonight at these discounted price tags. In Awesemo’s Boom Bust Tool, he is rated as a top-10 option on the slate in terms of Boom score for both DraftKings and FanDuel.

Boom: Trey Lyles: $3,300 DraftKings/$3,600 FanDuel

While he is going to be very popular tonight, eating the chalk with Lyles and differentiating yourself in different spots of your lineup is the right move. With Mo Harkless struggling to make an impact, Kings’ head coach Alvin Gentry decided to give Lyles the starting nod at power forward Monday, and the veteran did not disappoint. In 30.4 minutes of work, Lyles recorded 34.5 DraftKings points in the win over the Thunder. Given Sacramento won this game by 21 points, one would think Lyles’ minute total was inflated due to garbage time, but this was not the case at all.

He and most of the Kings’ starters, including De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, essentially played the entire fourth quarter and were on the court until the final buzzer. Coming off this win, Lyles should remain a starter tonight against the Pelicans and receive right around 30 minutes again. New Orleans ranks 20th in defensive efficiency and this tilt’s total is the high mark of this eight-game slate at 233 points. In a sample size of seven contests, Lyles has been an immense value with 33 DraftKings PPG when he has logged at least 25 minutes this season. He has a legitimate chance to return 10-times value in this elite environment.

Boom: Cameron Payne: $4,300 DraftKings/$4,100 FanDuel

After missing the past 15 games with a wrist injury, Payne will make his return tonight and instantly finds himself in a large role, with both Chris Paul (thumb) and Devin Booker (health protocols) unavailable. Payne will likely start at point guard tonight and Awesemo NBA fantasy projections have him for 27.4 minutes against the Blazers, which is more than enough time for him to destroy his cheap price points. In the 298 minutes Payne has played with Paul and Booker off the floor this season, the guard has responded with 1.2 DraftKings PPM, thanks to a 29.5% usage rate and a 33.3% assist percentage, both of which are team highs for this situation.

Plus, in the lone contest both Booker and Paul have missed since the latter joined the team two years ago, Payne finished with 35.5 DraftKings points against the Spurs last May. This Portland defense he will be going against tonight ranks second to last in efficiency and even with their top two players missing, the Suns’ implied team total is the fourth highest of the night at 117.5 points. Similar to Lyles, Payne is a perfect example of good chalk and is a value that simply cannot be ignored. For both DraftKings and FanDuel, the guard is rating as the No. 1 value on the slate in Awesemo’s NBA projections.

Boom: Malcolm Brogdon: $7,100 DraftKings/$6,300 FanDuel

37% DraftKings Boom/47% FanDuel Boom

In just his second start removed from a 15-game absence due to an Achilles injury, Brogdon looked sensational in Sunday’s blowout win over the Celtics, posting 41 DraftKings points in only 29 minutes. Given the Pacers ran away with this 21-point victory, Brogdon sat the entire fourth quarter and would have absolutely seen more action if the tilt was competitive. Tonight the Pacers will be visiting the Magic, and this contest’s spread is the smallest on the board, with Indiana only favored by 1.5-points.

This matchup’s total is also the second-highest on the slate at 232.5 points and Awesemo NBA DFS projections have Brogdon for 35 minutes in this tremendous setting. The guard is supplying 1.1 DraftKings PPM this season and is averaging 38 DraftKings PPG for the eight times he has been available in a total of at least 220 points. Presumably because of Brogdon’s recent lengthy absence, he is laughably underpriced on both DraftKings and FanDuel tonight, resulting in him owning a top-three Boom score on the slate for both sites in Awesemo’s Boom Bust Tool.
